Ricky Hatton is determined to keep proving people wrong when he takes on Jose Luis Castillo in Las Vegas on Saturday.
The unbeaten Hatton has been accused in the past of being overprotected - with the Hitman even admitting he could have easily stayed in the comfort zone and just defended the WBU light-welterweight belt he had made his own during the early stages of his career.
However Hatton believes his fights against the likes of Kostya Tszyu have proved he is willing to mix it with the best.
And now he has the taste for the 'super fights' he wants more to follow after his match up with former lightweight kingpin Castillo.
He said: "If I had wanted I could have stayed as WBU champion and made 30 defences of that title but I wanted to fight the best.
"I only want two or three more years at it and every time I step into the ring I want it to be one of these guys.
"I've fought Kostya Tszyu and now I'm fighting Castillo so that's great. Nobody can look back and say I was over-hyped or over-protected. These are the fights I want now as a matter of course.
"I have really proved so many people wrong. I always dreamed I would fight some of the best fighters in the world and now I am fighting some of the pound-for-pound greatest. All I wanted was to get in the ring with the other champions."
WHO DYA RECKON WILL WIN???????
I think hatton with a ko, but i aint underestimating castillo
Remember his fights with the late diego corrales *heart of a warrior* RIP

Isn't Clinton Woods fighting Gonzalez on the same bill? Should be a good night!
Will be watching as thankfully it's being screened free through cable over here
Clinton Woods is injured and won't be fighting, the undercard is terrible, really almost one of the worst I have seen for a world title fight. Hatton won't stop Castillo, he is one tough cookie.

It better be a good fight, the booze is starting to take its toll and if Ricky decides he is gonna do his John Ruiz impressions again I will never make it to the final bell
Re: BOXING - Hatton Vs Castillo Saturday On Sentanta
I was impressed with old Joe Cortez' reffing- he wasnt taking any crap!He had obviously been told before hand to make sure Hatton didnt try and hold like he did in his last fight and was doing a good job of keeping the action going
I was almost a bit dissapointed when Hatton won cos I think it could have turned into a cracking fight if it went on a few more rounds.Still not a bad fight as long as it lasted but I think Castillo has definitley faded since his wars with Coralles.
Re: BOXING - Hatton Vs Castillo Saturday On Sentanta
Fantastic fight if a bit short, as Mr Jason B mentioned, almost a shame to end so quickly for what was shaping up to be a peach of a fight. I was getting ready for at least a 9 rounder.
Superb finish from Hatton though and a great performance all round IMO, I've seen a few boring (tactical)fights lately so this was a breath of fresh air.
No doubt alot will be saying Castillo was past it now but he certainly didn't look that way to me in the ring, just think it was a case of being overpowered by the better boxer on the night.

i was right yo hatton does a ko
what a body punch, bigger fight now either with
mayweather or dela hoya even cotto
rooney carrying in the belt for hatton quality
Re: BOXING - Hatton Vs Castillo Saturday On Sentanta
Well having said Hatton won't stop Castillo, I went and put money on a stoppage win and won! Well done me for contradicting myself. Congrats to Hatton, and good for him that he is going after the big guns (Calzaghe take note). A fight with Mayweather would excellent, the master boxer V the brawler, whether Mayeather can come back down to light welter is another matter.
But Mayweather needs an exciting fight, he's too slick a boxer to have great fights, but I suspect Ricky Hatton will make it a great fight.

i think hatton would beat mayweather, the only thing mayweather has is speed but i think hatton gives mayweather a few body blows it could be over, i think the main superfight for hatton will be against the younger miguel cotto, i watched cotto vs judah and dyam hes quality, who dya think would win out of hatton and floyd mayweather jnr

I personally think miguel cotto is overrated. Hatton would have no problems with him at all! As for mayweather well it could be a very tough fight for hatton due to mayweathers speed so he would have to finish it early otherwise i can see mayweather easily winning on points.
Id personally like to see hatton vs moseley.... now that has the makings for a great fight!
Re: BOXING - Hatton Vs Castillo Saturday On Sentanta
There is an audio interview with someone in the mayweather camp on the BBC website. He says that the fight could go ahead in the autumn.
However he said that the fight would take place at 147lb. which would be "meeting in the middle" claiming that floyd had his last fight at 154lb. However floyd weighed in at 150 for his last fight, and has fought 90% of his career at 140lb or below. Naturally he is a slight fighter of 5ft 8 and you would expect him to want to fight around the 140 mark.
Obviously the Mayweather camp are conscious that Hatton is out of his comfort zone at 147lb. I don't know if it will make a massive difference as Mayweather shouldn't have enough power to bother Hatton.
If the fight takes place I would like to see it at 140.
