Freddy Shepherd has sold up

So Fred has sold up , but will remain as Chairman .
Strange that an overseas bidder never went for Newcaslte United

Re: Freddy Shepherd has sold up

He never really had much option as he would have been frozen out financially as the new owner would have just ceased paying dividends and once Freddie had stopped receiving his substantial nine figure dividend payment he would have soon sold up.

It's a shame that he is staying on as Chairman though as the club will never have credibility whilst he's at the helm.

Re: Freddy Shepeard has sold up

Completely agree with that Ian...while he's linked with the club there will always be an air of discontent around St.James Park IMO.

Re: Freddy Shepeard has sold up

Again, totally agree with Ians comments. He's singlehandedly dragged the clubs name through the mud so many times over the years.

Re: Freddy Shepherd has sold up

How much did The Toon pay for Carl Cort? about £7m??
He's just joined Leicester for nowt.

Which reminds me of one of my favourite stories:

Reporter to Newcastle's Shola Ameobi: 'Do you have a nickname?'
Ameobi: 'No, not really'
Reporter: 'So what does Bobby Robson call you?'
Ameobi: 'Carl Cort.'

Very sad.

Maybe Sheperd has been kept on as a sweetener,I think once Ashley has taken full control he'll bring in his own people.
