Toon Takeover?

Looks like a shares war is about to erupt over ownership of Newcastle - I can only hope the club comes out the other side stronger. I'd like to see Shepherd out but Big Sam must be feeling a little cautious. Shepherd has repeatedly said he wouldn't go quietly.

Re: Toon Takeover?

Dunno about you, but I'm a bit worried as to what this is going to do to our summer transfer dealings.... this really needs to be done FAST if its not going to negatively affect our plans for next season now.

Also does anyone even know what this guys like?

The toon fans have loved slagging FS off, but the fact is he has always put his hand in his pocket for signings. Will the new guy do that?

Not really sure what to think ATM.

Re: Toon Takeover?

dont think there is much too worry about if he buys freddy out,he would of spent alot of cash to do so and he will make sure he invests alot on players and backs sam 100% otherwise it would be a pretty dumb investmant,he has alt more cash than fred so wont be to shy spendig his cash.

Re: Toon Takeover?

This guy must be a pretty shrewd & possibly ruthless businessman. One thing is for sure; he is loaded.

FS has always said that he has the best interests of the club at heart & would only sell to a Geordie Ambramovich (which to my mind says "I'm not selling without a fight").

FS cannot compete with Mike Ashley & unless he wants to take the club into a battle which would absolutely ruin our pre-season & BS's ability to plan he should step aside once he has been given the assurances he needs (for the good of the club) that Ashley is going to plough money into the club & secure it's long term future.

This is a huge opportunity for NUFC to compete for the very best again; if FS fights a war of attrition internal wranglings will tear it apart. That must not be allowed to happen.

Re: Toon Takeover?

I hope for Newcastle this happens.

I've said for the last 5 years that Newcastle will never achieve anything unless they get Fat Fred out of the board room. The only two things Fat Fred ever did right during his time is employ Bobby Robson and Big Sam. Granted he's always backed his managers with money, but from reading Bobby Robson's book, seems to think that Newcastle is a big club and that players will automatically want to join them. Newcastle lost out on a few players because of Fat Fred's attitude. They lost out on Carrick because Fat Fred said that they would be able to get him cheaper in the January transfer window .... and what happened ... he signed for Tottenham that Summer since Newcastle showed no interest.

Hopefully ... this summer things will turn around for Newcastle ... it's quite sad to see them do so poorly ... especially as they have probably they most loyal fans in the premiership.

Ben

Nice article; Britiah Howard Hughes
Quote:
The Sports World boss acted after being summoned to a meeting of his key rivals in Cheshire to discuss the pricing of a new Manchester United kit. Another businessman who was present, Dave Whelan - founder of the rival outlet JJB Sports and the chairman of Wigan - is said to have first mistaken the dishevelled Ashley for a gardener and told him: "There's a club in the north, son, and you're not part of it." He is now - and it is a bigger one than Wigan Athletic.

That is my biggest fear TBH. I dont hate *** as much as some, but I fear that he be petty about it. Thing is, if this guy gets another 10% of the shares he may as well sell up as he could be sacked from the board. He could end up looking like an even bigger prat than he already does to a lot of people. But somehow, I feel, that may not bother him too much.

However, he's not THAT thick (I hope) and he will profit from this if he sells up.

Re: Toon Takeover?

Mike Ashley seemes pretty confident that the can get passed 50% & once that happens (the sooner the better) the surely FF will throw the towel in, or he will face a huge backlash.

As the Lone Ranger would have said "That man speak with forked tongue"

FS only does anying with the interests of FS at heart be it financial or ego.

I lived in Newcastle in the mid eighties and heard stories about him that would curl the toes of most decent people the worst of which came directly from a good friend of mine who's property FS wanted to acquire but my friend didn't want to sell. He sold
