Proper cup final

Yes there was one but it didnt take place at Wembley , rather at Twickenham yesterday. 80000 + witnessed one of the best cup finals ever fought by two of the best teams in Europe , both English, Leicester Tigesr and Wasps. What we saw was not a bunch of overpaid ,crybaby, prima donnas whining at every ref decission, but 30 men honest and true fighting the good fight with honesty and commitment to the cause. One team ended up disappointed but they accepted defeat with the sort of maganimity and dignity one expects ie no throwing rattles out of the pram.Ditto the fans who behaved, as per usual, impeccably.I dont particulalry support either side although I shared in some of the disppointmnet the Tigers must have felt as i was willing them to do the unprecedented treble. Credit to Wasps, though, they'd obviously done their homework ensured their defence would be watertight and exploited the one obvious weekness in the Tigers armour - too slow to get organised at the lineouts. This happened not once but twice. Another great thing about this match is the fact that the vast majority of those taking part were
English thus proving that we cam still produce players capable of holding their own in the international field.
To all those who dismiss Rugby as a minority sport? Its growing. Dont be surprised to see more and more footie fans who are truly hacked off with their first sport of choice to be queuing up the at the gates of their local rugby club.

Ok, we get it. You don't like football and love rugby. Why do you feel the need to create thread after thread on the topic? Does it bother you that people don't share your opinion, or do you just want attention?

Yes it was a good game, but for once the Tiger's pack were not able to bully the opposition. I think Wasps' game plan was spot on and well executed. Lewsey was stunning around the fringes and at the breakdown, and allowed Wasps to dominate the game.

I am, as a Saints fan, glad Wasps won.

LGS, As much as I agree with you about the proper sportsmanship and effort seen in rugby compared to football, I am still and always will be a football fan.

Football does that to you. If you really love it, you can live with all the rubbish that goes along with it.

I like watching RU, and always enjoy the Six Nations and WC's, but football will always be my 1st love.

Despite the best attempts of overpaid poofs trying to ruin the game, there is nothing better than watching a good team play good football.

But you have really turned on football these days !!

Re: Proper cup final

I love lots of sports including football, rubgy, cricket, darts (PDC) and 9 ball pool. I think it is possible to enjoy them all, each for their own unique skills and excitement.

I go to Nothanpton Saints games, and also Anfield too. Whilst for me, Anfield is my first passion, it does not detract from the great days' out I have at the rugby too.

Re: Proper cup final

I have always liked watching football. Use to go and watch River Plate as a kid and played it whenever i could but now i feel we are being swamped by it. There is just far too much of it .Not only matches but gossip, press coverage the lot . It has become Premiership clubs have signed far too many foreign players so that the clubs lose their identity ie they become a kind of foreign legion which in itself does little good for the national side which surely must be the most important aspect of the game. Too much money has gone to them and not enough to the grassroots or on developing English talent.
By contrast rugby is a growing sport with a bright future and if so many here feel inclined to start football threads then I see nothing wrong with starting more rugby ones especially one such as this which celebrates an excellent sporting occasion which involved not one but TWO English clubs contesting a Europen cup.
I may just watch the Champ league final and just hope that its better than saturdays snorefest

So you've never been to a big football match in the UK ?

Were you actually at the Wasps vs Tigers game ?
