Looks like commiserations are due for blades fans!

Yes, the BBC understands that Sheff Utd's board have made a declaration of intent for next season, and with that in mind, it seems Bryan Robson is liable to be announced as Neil Warnocks successor. Although most fans had expected Utd to try and bounce back to the prem at the first attempt, Utd's board obviously have different ideas.

Bored with being a promotion chasing team in the Championship, they have now decided Blades supporters need a new sort of excitement - that of a relegation battle. To bring about this epic change in fortune for Sheffields finest, it seems Robson was the 'logical choice'. With a history of relegation battles, the majority unsuccessful, Robson is 'the man' for the boards vision of Utd's immediate future.

Utd fans, while probably a bit baffled at this choice of appointment, can surely see an exciting season ahead.

Although perhaps not the excitement most of them had counted on..............

Re: Looks like commiserations are due for blades fans!

Just would confirm what I have always said about the weird world of football.

No matter how crap you are, if you are a big name, then you will always get highly paid work.

Same goes for Jamie Redknapp. Average footballer, yet Sky's current ad for the CL final coverage spouts on about Guillit being a 2 times winner, and Souness being a 3 times winner - yet we are shown the pretty-boy mug of Redknapp in the advert - a man who has hardly won a league game let alone a CL final!!

Lets hope Sky ditch him next season. He is blandness personified. Makes Shearer sound exciting and controversial.

They obviously don't have much confidence in their legal battle!

Shame that...

I think the Pardew/Curbishley situation was the one that surprised me the most this year. Curbishley leaves Charlton and they start doing crap, West Ham do crap so they sack Pardew and hire Curbishley, Charlton sign Pardew, and get relegated, West Ham stay up.. obviously the manager has a huge impact on the team, so why on earth did Charlton sign Pardew?

To be fair to Pardew he had a rough season, with a lot of it being not down to him. Back on topic though...what a dreadful choice of manager for Sheffield United.

Do enough digging and you'll find that Pardew created an awful lot of trouble for himself in the close season and the start of this season proper.

Mark my words, charismatic and honest on the outside when being interviewed but he has made some serious mistakes behind the scenes which have lead to his current situation...

Really?

Anyway... I think Robson is a great choice. Hopefully won't see Sheff Utd for years

I wouldn't even trust Robson to get Forest out of League 1 or whatever it's called these days

Got Boro promoted twice (also got us relegated the once mind) as well as getting us to three cup finals.

He took over at Albion when we were third from bottom. He took us down to the bottom of the Prem where we were at Christmas and then brought us back up to finish - third from bottom!

..........all of which he lost!

The guys a loser - period.

I keep hoping (praying ) Utd will make one of their 1970's style 'we need an old boy to run this team' decisions and snap him up! From dominant team in England, to relegation fodder - overnite!

Well, you can dream can't you?

According to the BBC he's been "relieved of his duties".
