Unlikely. There's even more at stake in that game.

Oh, and yes a crap thread starter. Many cup finals, in many sports, not just football are ruined by being built up too much. Including Sietes precious RU.

All true. What puzzles me is why the likes of Ronaldo didn't stamp their authority on the game? Rooney played ok, and created some good openings, but a lot of the other 'stars' went awol. Chelsea, without Carvalho which meant Essien played in the back four, lacked the latters ability to probe, and that, in a nutshell killed the game off, as Chelsea defended a deep line, and ground Utd down. As you say, great finish by Drogba.

Nice to hear some Utd fans taking it so well actually. Although some nasty comments have already been made.........

Re: is it time to scrap the FA cup?

Mmm... tough one to call. Ronaldo was poor, but Rooney was lively, but props to Cech! Very brave indeed!!!!

Cech and Vidic kept both teams in the game upto the last 5 minutes.

Goal line techonlogy...

Ronaldo, Giggs, did nothing
Scholes And Vidic were like the best players i think
As i say you lose some you win some, but for the first fa cup at the new wembley stadium you cant get a cra**er match, hopefully the brazil vs england lives up to it, o well we have the next fa cup lol said that for the last few years now

However, as I say, I can't see Milan wanting lightening to strike twice. As such it's liable to be much more cagey than 2005.

The best way to exact revenge would be for Milan to put Liverpool in their place

Kaka looks to be on some sort of personal mission. Besides, you're telling me they won't attack Liverpool? Teams always underestimate Rafa's team! Milan have done everything short of booking the open top bus right now!

Correct. But to do so they have to win. This is the Italians we are talking here. The experts at mind games, dirty football, and of course defence mad if they want to ensure the big prize.

As I say LFC, I hope I'm wrong and you're right, but then I predicted a boring, under pressure game today, while others were talking about a 'classic' and who was right?

Frankly I think teams overestimate Liverpool. They are nothing special, as Arsenal showed three times. It's the media trying to bluff on Liverpool's behalf, and Liverpool's European opponents trying to talk their players up, that do Liverpool down.

I would counter that with 2 Champions League finals, 2 FA Cup finals, 3 League Cup finals, 2 Super Cup finals and a World Club Championship final in 6 years.

Chelsea have won two leauges, two leauge cups and the FA cup all in three seasons. Are they particularly special?

Many would say no, and they don't have the massive head start of being called 'Liverpool'. Which in itself is worth a goal start - no matter how crap the team in Red on the pitch.

Besides which, the less blinkered red-noses aren't that blown away but what they see, never mind the rest of us.

Well clearly they must have had something about them or they wouldn't have won those trophies.

I would call us a work in progress, which makes the cup-collecting all the more remarkable.

Getting back on topic

I think that the FA Cup should be retained but moved to a Wednesday so that it doesn't co-incide with the Test Match

No, not really. In the prem era cup collecting is a pastime for the 'big four'. Arsenal were rubbish in two out of three recent cup finals but still won.

Why not? Quote from Jamie Carragher "teams are scared of the Liverpool legend it gives us a great boost in European games" unquote. I rest my case.

Apply that to a leauge in which teams still see 1980's Liverpool not the current bunch of mercs, and you have a 30 point cushion. But that's nothing new.........

A work in progress? Well, aren't all teams? Arsenal have fielded three different sides now under Wenger, and the team is changing again. So what?

Ian, I'd rather sell shave my head than let a test match take over from the cup final!

I think that Old Trafford cricket ground should be levelled and used as an overflow car park for Old Trafford football ground - we do need the space.
