Re: The Union versus League row...........

Not read other threads about this. Not even a great follower of Rugby (I've enough problems with my team) but I have to say for sheer excitement and scale Union blows League out of the water.

When Twickenham is in full cry in a big match and Sweet Chariot is sung it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. League cannot come anywhere near. All they do is run a few yards into the one man in front, fall down, and pass the ball back between their legs while everyone watches, applauding the skill of the ball between the legs technique. Why don't the just all pile in and have a good ruck like Union!?

Sorry if I've offended any League fans, but I'd rather watch golf...oops I've said it now

As has been pointed out thereare quite a few others out there but they just dont choose to get involved blathering a load of pointless inanities like the football crowd do. On e days listening to Talk Sport would confirm the depths of sheer drivel footie people descend to

Re: The Union versus League row...........

And your point is.........?
Football fans are interested in all aspects of the gamelayers, transfers, teams, goals, the politics etc.

All you can come is which version of a crap game is better than the other.

How can their be 2 versions of the same Sport? that in itself is poo

Re: The Union versus League row...........

I'm a league fan, and can't think of anything better than watching my team (wigan). Its just a shame that there are so many foreign players in the league, meaning that the Great Britain side is much weaker than it should be mind you the England union side aren't world beaters anymore Have tried watching a bit of union (as its often on bbc unlike league, and we don't have sky) but just can't seem to get into it...

I think the fact that union teams are trying to buy in the best league players shows you which is the better sport

Err it was the other way round for some time . Its only the speed merchants Union want anyway- with the exception of Farrel who is bit of a cart horse although he can throw a pass or two.

Re: The Union versus League row...........

I am Scottish therefore there is no such thing as rugby league in our minds.

I played UNION for 8 years but happened to move to Wigan for a short time and found the league game breathtaking! Need to be a proper athlete to play that game not just a big bruiser - couldn't believe the size of those guys close up!

Now, I can't bear to watch union as it just seems to labour along in comparison.

The speed of the game is what i find the most enjoyable thing about league. People just presume for some reason that league is a slower paced game when its the opposite.....
One thing that really annoys me is people who know nothing about either form of the game talking about rugby union, they just presume that its superior to league because they won the world cup. if only league got more publicity
