Who was the Premiership signing of the Season?

I was thinking about players who have had an impact on their teams season.

If I have forgotten any, please be sure to give them a mention.

I said Tevez,

I mean the impact on the team could be huge.....
Not on the field.
Just in the bank books, or points....

The Berbmaster for me.Great first year and playing for a few years in the Bundesliga was a help as one of the more physical leagues in europe.

Re: Who was the Premiership signing of the Season?

Some you missed out are.....

Joleon Lescott
Sol Campbell
David James
Andy Johnson
Ben Foster (I'm not sure if he counts)

I'm undecided between Tezez and Berbatov.

Definitely not Carrick......he could have been bought in 2004 for about £3.5 million, But I suppose his signing did improve Man U's prospects of winning the Premiership.

Re: Who was the Premiership signing of the Season?

I'm admitedly biased, but it has to be Berbatov.

On a strictly 'pounds per goal' basis, Bennie McCarthy would win. But Berbatov has also had 9 or 10 assists, and has done so much more than just score.

I've also been impressed with Dirk Kuyt and think he will do better still next year. He has a never-say-die, never stop running, work ethic that I very much admire.

Credit to Harry Redknapp for his signings of Judas and David James - both have been superb.

Michael Carrick has done well, very well if you ignore his inflated price tag.

Joleon Lescott deserves a nod, too.

Re: Who was the Premiership signing of the Season?

Berbatov would probably get my vote, with Tevez and McCarthy running him close.

Surprised - unless I've missed it - that no-one has mentioned Woodgate?

Re: Who was the Premiership signing of the Season?

from the list Berbatov definitely, he is the main reason Spurs finished as high as they did.

For value though, McCarthy at Blackburn £100,000 per goal isn't a bad price

Tevez deserves a mention as well, because i don't think West Ham paid a lot, if anything, for him and he saved them from relegation.

Can i call Ronaldo the signing of the season? It might not have been this season but he's the signing of all seasons!

Mikel was a great signing for UTD , we made £10mil on him without him even setting foot in Old Trafford

Yeah, some of the Gooooooooners need to take the spectacles off Off the top of my head, Derbyshire and Arteta are 10x more deserving than the Real reject. Goals and assists over the whole season and have been integral to their respective teams (something you can't say about the Brazilian) - what has he done? Oh right, a couple of goals in the minority cup that they didn't win anyway

And the top two must be the jokers

Re: Who was the Premiership signing of the Season?

In my opinion it has to Berbatov. He is far more complete player than I imagined when he signed for Tottenham. He reminds me of Berkgamp in the way that he plays the game. He always seems to have the ball under control, he has a good awareness of what is around him. Robbie Keane has a looked a far better player since his signing.

Been impressed by Arteta and Kuyt also.

Dodgy Signings

Khalid Boulharouz (The Cannibal) - top class signing for Chelsea
Shevchenko/Ballack (The Retirement fund) Neither player has a kicked a ball for Chelsea in my opinion this season.
William Gallas (Sicknote) Quality player but injured almost as much as Anderton

lol, understatement of the year You can almost trace each penalty he has given away to the number of points Chelski ended up finishing behind Utd

Why has noone mentioned Corradi

Seriously though, it has to be Berbatov - great player who will only get better.

As for Carrick being suggested

Re: Who was the Premiership signing of the Season?

Nicholas Anelka has done quite well for Bolton this season. He is always a risky signing for any club involved. Quality finisher and his pace always makes him a threat.

Who knows how his career would have gone if he had stayed at Arsenal.
