Are Wigan and Sheff Utd going to conspire against the Hammers?

A 1-0 for Wigan (with West Ham almost certain to lose at United) will mean West Ham relegated ...... would the Blades and Wigan do this?

Hmmmm ...... with the fuss surrounding the fine instead of points being deducted, you never know ....

Re: Are Wigan and Sheff Utd going to conspire against the Hammers?

West Ham should of been deducted points and therefore already relegated. However, I can't see two reams in this country collaborating against another. What if West Ham win!

Still a long way to go with this if either Sheffield or Wigan go down as they will immediately take court action.

What a mess!

Re: Are Wigan and Sheff Utd going to conspire against the Hammers?

I hope the Blades and Wigan do throw the game and let Wigan win 1-0. And then hopefully Carlito Tevez will nick a last minute equaliser at Old Trafford and send Wigan down. After which an FA investigation finds leaked communication between Jewell and Warnock suggesting a 1-0 Wigan 'wouldn't be a bad result' .... so they both go down and shut up with all their moaning!!!

A 1 nil win for Wigan is too risky for SU, as i can see WHU nicking something at OT

Yeah a 1-0 win for Wigan would relegate Sheff Utd if West Ham get something. If Sheff Utd had a better goal difference I reckon they may have gone for it ... but it maybe too risky for them. Unless, they keep it at 0-0 all game, have a few injuries, see how the West Ham game finishes .......

blimey, I am a conspiracy theorist, I'll be starting a thread saying the Lee Harvey Oswald didn't act alone next .....

EDIT : Wigan are 7/1 on SkyBet.com for a 1-0 win, maybe worth a punt!

Re: Are Wigan and Sheff Utd going to conspire against the Hammers?

There could have been potential for this in my opinion, but the Blades getting a heavy defeat at Villa Park means they could well need something... if both Wigan and us get a result, then they're down.

We just need to keep it as close as possible (IE - not 3-0 down at half-time)

Re: Are Wigan and Sheff Utd going to conspire against the Hammers?

Any deal between the two would rely totally on West ham not already having done a deal with ManU, wouldn't it?

having already won the title, and with the FA cup looming, Sir Alex could put out a team of WAGs against WestHam and nobody would dare complain..

Knowing us lot though we'd probably beat the proper players and lose to the WAGS

I know Man Utd are at the very top and we're near the bottom but in terms of form, going into the game, we're pretty much on a par with them and should really have nothing to fear.

Do you think Fergie owes West Ham one though? Remember that final day at Upton Park when Blackburn won the league?

'know where you're coming from there, but based on the two teams facing each other in the 'big match' the other day, business now matters more than sport, it seems?

I'll actually be suprised if West Ham don't beat Utd, bearing in mind the circumstances invloved, and also past performances, as you mention.. ?

The Man U v West Ham game will be interesting.

West Ham are awarded goals that dont cross the line, but goals are not given against Man U, even when they are 3 feet over the line

And its complete!

Others have finished what I have started. Sport is now a regurgitation of the tabloid press

It could happen anyway. It's been done many times before. Man Utd and Liverpool (of all clubs!) were once both fined for fixing a match. Utd needed to win 2-0 to avoid relegation. Guess what the score was?! The FA concluded it was fixed, and fined both clubs.

Imagine what would happen if that was proven today? Hang on it's Utd and Liverpool! What am I saying! The FA would let both of them off and pay them 'compensation' for daring to even think it was fixed............

Many other games around that relegation zone have provided erm' 'dodgy' results over the years, but the FA, being the FA has always done very little about it.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if the final result had an 'iffy' look to it. West Ham are unlikely to win at Utd, whatever team Fergie plays, as they don't want to go into a cup final on a defeat, and a 1-0 to Wigan would suit both those two nicely if West Ham lose.
