Pompey new stadium

Looks impressive if a little ambitious, good for the train but cars are a no go - would have to be park and ride of some sort. Not sure I can see it happening to be honest after all the previous false hope. Happy with 36k size, not too big

Re: Pompey new stadium

Where is HMS Warrior going then! That has got to be a wind-up as there is a roof on the away end. At least us away fans wont get wet when the new stadium is built.

Re: Pompey new stadium

I think a new dock area to the north is planned for Warrior to be housed while remaining easily accessible to the public.

Re: Pompey new stadium

That does look impressive, maybe a touch too small capacity wise, as if they keep up their league position I can see them getting more fans than that

Having worked in the dockyard, can confirm that that bit is sea at the moment! Cant see this getting planning permission due to parking/access by road.

Re: Pompey new stadium

There will only be parking for VIP, players, staff etc so it will be park and ride, train, ferry, or people could actuallly use there feet maybe? considering most of our fans come from the city. I laughed when I first saw it but now I think it could work.

Re: Pompey new stadium

I read somewhere this morning £600m! - are they completely mad? Here's an idea - just build one on "land" & buy £450m worth of players.

Re: Pompey new stadium

Looks pretty nice. 1500 apartments around the ground, 22 stories in the highest point 11 in the lowest. There are better places around Portsmouth they could have put it, on the dump that is the greyhound track for a start.

Re: Pompey new stadium

i bet the residents of gunwharf will be thrilled.. £300,000 for a 2 bed flat, and they're going to have to put up with 36000 people wandering around every saturday, and then imagine the noise during the matches...

Great if you were also a pompey fan though; also it is only 19 days a year.

DJT75, 600m is for the whole development - I imagine the 1500 flats looking over the harbour will be pricey, then there is the 750 houses to be built on the old ground etc.
