Crystal Palace vs. Liverpool FA Cup Semi 1990 Rematch

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/6464111.stm

Just thought I'd post on here to drum some any late support for this. Being played tonight at (the home of football) Selhurst Park to raise money for the Geoff Thomas Foundation. I'm proud to say I was at the original semi up at Villa Park in 1990... I was only 9 but can still remember it (just) and must have watched the video hundreds of times... oh happy days.

Crystal Palace and Liverpool are to recreate their 1990 FA Cup semi-final to raise funds for former Eagles player Geoff Thomas' cancer charity.

The game takes place at Selhurst Park on Tuesday, with Alan Pardew, Ian Wright, Mark Bright and John Barnes some of the players involved.
Thomas, a former England player, was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2003.
His life was saved by a bone marrow transplant from his sister Kay Hill, who was a perfect match four years ago.

The former England international has set up the Geoff Thomas Foundation, which is committed to funding nurses and scientists at five major leukaemia units across Britain.

"I see myself as very lucky to be here and privileged to raise money for people not as fortunate as myself," Thomas told BBC Five Live Sport. In the 1990 semi-final at Villa Park, Palace surprised Liverpool, winning 4-3 after extra-time in one of the great FA Cup ties.

There's more details here for people that are interested inc team lineups.

Its open to all fans, Palace, Pool or neutrals and tickets are £20 on the door. All money goes to the Geoff Thomas Foundation.

I went to the 1990 FA Cup final rematch vs. Man Utd last year (similar thing to raise money for Geoff) and it was a great evenings entertainment. Really good to see some of my old Palace heros back out in the Red and Blue stripes.

Like the original final we lost again though... hopefully we can put another one over on the scousers again!

"And Palace are they in front? Yes, they are"
