Barrera V Marquez

Anyone watch this? How didn't Barrera get disqualified?
Lost a point, think he got of very lightly.
Marquez was on all fours when Barrera smacks him in the face.Massive Barrera fan but just no need for that.

One of the best fights i've seen for a while.

Think Barrera done enough myself.

Shame my sky+ missed last 2 rounds.

How on earth did the referee call it a slip

Re: Barrera V Marquez

great scrap - all 3 fights on the show went the 12 rounds and all were good scraps.

For me Barrera didn;t do enough to win the fight - i think it was defo a knowdown in the 7th but a point off was the right call. Never ever did Marquez win it by 8 rounds on one card however!!

Also on the card - (Taken from FOx sports website)

On the undercard:
WBO super bantamweight champion Daniel Ponce De Leon (31-1, 28 KOs) won a twelve-round unanimous decision over former flyweight champ Gerry Penalosa (51-6-2, 35 KOs). The scores were 119-109, 119-109, 120-108, all for Ponce De Leon. The story of the fight saw Ponce De Leon throwing more than 100 punches per round to outwork Penalosa by a landslide. Ponce De Leon threw 1399 punches in the course of the fight, while Penalosa only threw 481.

In a battle of junior welterweights, Demetrius Hopkins (26-0-1, 10 KOs) picked up a unanimous decision win over former champion Steve Forbes (32-5, 9 KOs). The decision was very unpopular with the Las Vegas crowd, and numerous ringside observers. It appeared that Forbes would be a close decision winner as he outworked the younger Hopkins in a majority of the rounds. The final scores by the judges were very wide, 118-110 Hopkins, 118-110 Hopkins and 117-111 Hopkins.

The above hopkins was a terrible call from the judges - no idea what they were watching - Forbes won it by at least 2/3 rounds for me - shocking but yet typical desicion by vegas judges.

Re: Barrera V Marquez

I felt that the ref should have stepped in sooner when Marquez went down. Barrera could make a case that he felt the ref was allowing the fight to carry on as only Marquez's gloves touched the mat.

The scores for the rounds from the judges was also well off, it was much closer than they gave credit it for, and I wouldn't have been surprised to see it go either way bar the lost knock down/point deduction.

Re: Barrera V Marquez

great fight, fantastic heart shown by both men, now what we need here in Britain is a couple of decent scraps as well, and not for some crappy plastic fake world title that Mr Warren seems to love so much.
