Question Does anyone subscribe to Setenta Sports Channel?

I was all excited to watch the opening match of the NRL rugby league season only to realise I didn't actually have a subscription to Setenta Sports channels.

Man! and it is an extra £15 per month for 9 channels, I already pay the full wack with the Sky World package.

Does anyone subscribe to the 9 Setenta Sports channels? If so are they any good? Is the £15 per month really worth it?

I'm not interested in Rangers or Celtic football. I like Golf and boxing.

The only reason why I am interested, is that Sky Sports no longer show the Australian rugby league NRL matches and these are broadcast on Setenta now.

Any ideas about the QLD vs NSW State of Origin matches in May/June/July???? Are Sky Sports (and the Boots 'n All programme) only going to show Super League matches now?

Paul.

Re: Does anyone subscribe to Setenta Sports Channel?

They did have a special on with your first three months subsciption for five pounds(received something in the post last week detailing this) so mention this if you phone.

I've had it for the Scottish football and they are pretty amateurish t.b.h. Poor commentary, picture quality can be poor but if you want to watch your sport I guess you'll put up with that.
i'm hoping it will improve now that they have the rights for some of the premiership games.

Re: Does anyone subscribe to Setenta Sports Channel?

Thanks for the reply. I guess you're right, I'm going to most likely subscribe just to get the NRL matches, which is a shame as I enjoyed the Sky Sports coverage of it and also Boots 'n All show.

Re: Does anyone subscribe to Setenta Sports Channel?

I have the setanta sports pack rather than Sky sports for NASN (North American Sports network) and the coverage is really good.

To go through the channels

NASN - If you love american sports this is a fantastic channel. they have exclusive rights to the ice hockey and show loads of live games. When the baseball season starts, also loads of games. In addition ESPN have a huge interest in NASN now and are pumping a lot of their programmes through as well. If you hadn't guessed i love this channel.

Setanta Golf - Started in Feb as they nicked the US PGA off sky. Excellent coverage and lots of live tournaments.

Setanta sports 1 & 2 - Quite a variety of different sports including gaelic sports, 6 nations highlights and the Ozzy RL (which you were asking about). The feed and the commentary is from down under so pretty life like if you can get passed the accents.

Celtic & rangers TV - Only of any use if you are a fan of either.

Racing UK & Racing World - If you like your horses these are good, if you don't not much to see here.

Setanta ireland - usually blocked out as seems to be for the irish subscribers.

Not forgetting of course that from August they also have the premiership, not as much as sky but footie non the less.

These are all my opinions but i hope it helps.

Re: Does anyone subscribe to Setenta Sports Channel?

I'm also thinking about getting Setanta sports pack, now that they've got the BTCC coverage off of MotorsTV. A couple of questions:

1. What's the picture quality like? Are all their channels widescreen, and how does the picture quality compare to the likes of Sky Sports and MotorsTV?

2. I understand you also get Setanta Ireland in the UK package, so is their F1 coverage any good?

Re: Does anyone subscribe to Setenta Sports Channel?

Oh well, I ended up get a subscription in the end I just could think of the prospect of not watching my belovered rugby league and god knows what I'd do without the State of Origin. I only watch it for the NRL as I have no interest in soccer (well sorry guys I am an Aussie after all! )

I might watch the golf stuff and the American NHL, NFL and NBL if they show it.

Re: Does anyone subscribe to Setenta Sports Channel?

i think that i will get it for next season because it seems decent value for money.

I had it when it first come out and all you got was scottish games and some horse racing.

Now they have some great coverage: 60 scottich games, 49 english PL games, french league football, german league football and us tour golf... all for £200 p.a....... i will take that and cancel my SKY sports subscription i think!!
