Don't know if anyone is watching the England-France game, but the commentators were discussing a penalty given to France because an England player was stamping on a French player.

The comment "well, I don't care, because he's french" was heard.

I'm wetting myself because I can't believe he said it.

Naughty, but very funny.
I'm sure it was just meant in a sport type of way

Bit of a stupid comment really. A penalty is a good opportunity for the French to create something? So saying that is just moronic, and as to whether it's racist is beside the point.

Well, I don't go for this PC anti-racist stuff, particularly, but I thought it was a bit naughty.
If it had been said about an Asian or black, I reckon there would have been complaints galore.

Personally I quite like the French and only see them as, as arrogant as us English.
But then, I've never been to Paris

Well, call me a 'pinko' but people calling others offensive names regarding their ethnic background and colour whether that be black, asian or white is not acceptable. If that makes me PC, well, hard cheese frankly. And people who do it deserve all they get. It's thanks to foul mouthed racist morons that we have PC in the first place.

On the French, all the French people I've met, and we've had more than a few exchange students stay with us, have always been pleasant and friendly. But, like you, I've never been to Paris either!

not getting into this one but you all have to admit that in a sport where punches, kicks, headbutts, eye gouging. stamping and any other form of violence is ALMOST acceptable - that's just bloody funny really - there's always been a rivalry between the 2 and i dare say the least of their problems is a few (humerous) words...

My comments on what is or is not acceptable is my own business and it's not 'rubbish'. Unless you feel making offensive comments about peoples colour is? I hope not. Those comments were a reaction to whether objecting to racism is PC or not, and had nothing to do with what the commentator said.

So, from where did you get the idea that I even objected, beyond it being just daft, to the comment on racist grounds?

I did say it was naughty, but my view is very similar to the defence minister who just got the bullet from the tory party.

You get called whatever winds you up.
It's not personal, just motivation, IMO.

Anyway, the point was that I didn't expect to hear it on the Beeb.

something which in any other situation would be regarded as banter suddenly becomes a racist agenda when its televised.
