Smile FA Cup 3rd Round discussion

Ahh yes. The stuff of childhood dreams Revitalised after last seasons final (all the more thankful we can forget Man Utd v Arsenal). Norwich seem to have kicked off their bid in style. Looking forward to the big Arsenal game later today.

Post predictions or general talk below

Re: FA Cup 3rd Round discussion

No Fabergas, no Gallas and a still not fully fit Henry. Hmmmmmmmm

Anyway, moving on, yes last years final was good, but speaketh not to soon about the awful Utd v Arsenal game when thou servest up the worst cup final ever in 96'!

Sadly, I predict the usual faces, bar Arsenal or Liverpool of course, will be there in May, and yet another top five winner. For the 17th year running (an unwanted record) no underdog, ie no-one outside the 'big five', or six if you include Chelsea, will win the FA cup. I hope I'm wrong, but...............

Underdog hopefuls at this stage, Brum (well, maybe!), Forest (here's hoping John!), Wednesday, and Villa (yes I am kidding!). Everton should beat Blackburn, Spurs should beat Cardiff. Fulham might crash at Leicester. Pompey to beat Wigan? Doncaster to hold Bolton?!

Re: FA Cup 3rd Round discussion

I always get a dodgy feeling about Chelsea's 3rd round games... I see they've drafted in 4 reserve players into the 16 man squad... add to that the injuries and suspensions and talk of resting Maka, Lamps and Cashley... could there be a massive upset be on the cards?

Come on Cardiff!

- I like your use of italics lol.
I personally think we have a good chance (I am a cardiff fan tho, lol). With the exception of two players, I think we have a full stregth side. All we have to do is score lol (which we have had trouble doing in the league lol).

from the sun:
Quote:
Martin Jol insists the pain of suffering FA Cup humiliation at Cardiff on Sunday would be worse than losing to bitter rivals Arsenal.
I think he's scared lol. Judging from the cardiff site, it has now sold out (when it was posted on the site, it said there were 200 tickets left, so they have probably gone now).

As for the other games:
Birmingham to beat newcastle (brum are in good form, if they carry that into the cup, they've got a very good chance of winning)

Sadly, I don't think maccesfield have a chance Vs Chelsea lol. Would love it if they could take it to a replay at their place though lol.

Liverpool to beat Arsesal (or is that wishfull thinking? lol)

Wrexham to beat Derby

I hope Sheffield Utd beat Swansea lol

Sheffield Wednesday to beat man city

edit - thanks for the support CFC1, sadly, I don't feel the same about your lot lol. (sorry, I nearly always back the underdogs unless their playing Man U or Cardiff lol).

I think thats down to the fact that one spurs fan in particular loves winding CFC up.

CFC, I can't see Macclesfield doing anything tbh. They look poor, and even since Ince took over, they haven't strung anything together. Wrexham to beat Derby? Now that is a long shot!

Little harsh no? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot..._3/default.stm I think at one point they were around 10 points adrift at the bottom?

Reading v Burnley called off

Feel sorry for the Burnley fans who travelled down from oop North. Shame. I thought Reading had a decent stadium with good drainage? Oh well

If wrexham can actually play, then I think they have a chance.
From what I've seen this season, wrexham either play well, or play crap. If they actually go out there, and just play the way they can (which isn't as bad as their league position suggests), then I think they have a chance lol. And tbh, I don't think Derby have been as good as their league position suggests

It may be slight optimism though, having more than one welsh club in the 4th round lol.

Ooooooh yes! However, you and CFC seem to spark off each other most often. I could be wrong...........

CFC, I see Macclesfields highlights and news quite a lot as they are a local team, and I follow our local side - another lower division outfit! From what I've seen, although Macclesfield are better than the utter tosh they were in the autumn, they are still pretty dire. Remember, as JohnG says, the standard down there is at a low ebb these days.

That list looks like it could be the one Hunts. Sad really, as the 'cheats' (ask any Bluenose ) are likely to go all the way if they beat us.

Down to cardiff in an hour lol. It takes an hour to get down there, so I'll probably spend around 1 and half hours down canton, then go to Ninian park. Usually I leave around 2 hours before kick off, but cos its a sunday, the trains are not as often.

Good luck, and let the best side win (us lol).

Yeah, but that lasted all of a minute! The sending off turned the game though, a poor decision too. If Sheva was falling over, and he was, then it should be a penalty as the keeper did reach out and catch him, but could he have scored? No chance. If not, then no sending off.

Apparently.

Definitely not a sending off... Frank Lampard said so too... I think it was the speed of the incident more than anything that effected the decision... Sheva was going at full pelt, goalie coming out at full pelt... even after watching it a couple of times, my eyes weren't on the position of the ball after Sheva knocked it past the keeper.. the collision was pretty dramatic looking and thet's where the ref's focus probably was too!

Re: FA Cup 3rd Round discussion

I see there were some poor crowds again on Saturday. I think Steve Bruce spoke some sense in his interview on MOTD when he said that we should be looking seriously at ticket prices otherwise we are in danger of pricing the working man out of the game.

Correct... it must be a sign of the times because Chelsea have introduced a new pricing policy this season in the FA Cup: All adult tickets just £25 and all juvenile/OAP's just £12.
It's got to be the way to go... that's probably why there were 41,500 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, instead of a more likely 25,000 if the prices were as normally, exhorbitant!
