Rangers new manager ?

Now that there's a vacancy, do you reckon they'll bring in Ally McCoist ?

Re: Rangers new manager ?

If Barry Furgerson has that much influence at the club, they may as well give it to him.

Id say there's a good chance Murray may try and bring Walter Smith back. . .

Re: Rangers new manager ?

What about a poach of Craig Levein?

I know he didn't set the world alight at Leicester, but he was proven at Hearts, and he has shown at Dundee United that he can provide instant results...

He is fairly young, Scottish and knows the Scottish game very well.

Well worth a go I would think!

Re: Rangers new manager ?

Don't think Barry Ferguson would be brave enough to mess with Levein, given his reputation

The gers fans never thought Mcleish was much cop because he wasnt a star name even though he brought them success, i can't see them thinking any differently of Levein.

Re: Rangers new manager ?

Shambolic at the minute

The smart money is on Walter Smith as General Manager, Ally McCoist as first team coach with Stuart McCall his second in command.

Got to be honest and say I'm glad PLG has left as he just never seemed interested in Rangers from the minute he was unvieled in front of the fans and as for his results

Spooky - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...rs/6233237.stm

Also looks like they've almost got Brown and Thomson from Hibs along with the Hearts reject Andy Webster - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...rs/6231867.stm

Re: Rangers new manager ?

I Truly fear for us as i'm a great believer in never looking back, so i think it's a mistake to bring Walter back(especially as it will be to the detriment of the national side)

Super Ally is completely untried and is going to be a mahoosive gamble.

Apparently PLG cost us £14,000 for each day of his tenure in the current financial climate that is an unmitigated disaster on its own

Major financial injection is required instantly if we are to move on and to be honest i don't think the finances neccesary are going to be made available.

I honestly shudder to think how many points we will finish behind the Mhankies or indeed where in the table we shall finish

That would be my worry - if I cared!

Re: Rangers new manager ?

yeah ok then. You sack one of Europe's promising young managers before he can get his teeth into the job.
You then appoint a manager who has already been chased from the club once.
Who although a reasonable success was partly due to his large spending power, not available now,his main rivals being on the edge of bankruptcy and in a shambles.
Who despite his domestic success oversaw some great European results Grasshoppers, Juve, etc.
Nearly got Everton relegated.
We'll see how he fares with a more level playing field now.

We welcome the chase!

I think it was blatantly obvious he wasn't up to (or aware how big a job it was) the job.

If you are talking about Walter (nobody has been appointed yet) He wasn't chased he left.

We should always remember that Rangers means as much to him as any fan.

We should also back him regardless as to whether we think he should be in the job.

No offence, but I think he's been a bit silly really. Yes, he's Rangers through and through, so the call was hard to resist, but he's been there and done that as it were.

Restoring the Scottish national side is a much harder task (so rumbles of 'bottling it' will no doubt be heard) and there was still a long way to go. Now he'll probably never get that chance again as the SFA were livid over his leaving.

I hope for his sake that he can do something, as things have moved on a lot since he was there last.

Whilst he may never get the chance to manage Scotland again the same could've been said about the Rangers job which is a much bigger job, so i can understand him leaving Scotland (in a much much better state than he found them) to come "home"

I can hardly wait to read all about the disgruntled "Scotland supporting Celtic fans"
