Re: January Transfer Window

Definitely... I think the window throws up bigger surprises than the regular transfer season. It looks like the obvious one will go through .... Owen Hargreaves to Man Utd, but I can't see anything else ATM. But as I say, deals seem to spring up when we least expect them.... What news of Tore Andre Flo? Is that a done deal?

Re: January Transfer Window

Chelsea might get a new manager in the transfer window if the rumours are to be believed.

I reckon Chelski will shift SWP and Shevchenko. No idea who they will recruit though.

The only thing I know is that Abramovich is taking the **** saying he won't spend big. He is only saying that to get FIFA off his arse.

SWP is a given, but Sheva... who's gonna take him? Burlesconi won't have him back at Milan, after slagging off Mrs Sheva...plus she loves it in London. I can see him staying until the end of the season!

I can't see why Harry would let that happen. Pompeys resurgence this season is largely due to the defensive acumen of Campbell and James. Would he really risk that bubble bursting? There must be a sweetener in it for him.... SWP.....Sheva?

Re: January Transfer Window

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has admitted he is worried that Chelsea might try and lure Sol Campbell away from the club.
Chelsea are reportedly lining up a move for the experienced defender as they look to shore up their leaky defence.
Campbell has been a massive success at Portsmouth since arriving on a free transfer in the summer.
Redknapp is determined to keep the former Tottenham and Arsenal ace and insists the player is happy at Portsmouth.
"I hope not because if I lose him I'll be in trouble," said Redknapp. "I'd hate to lose Sol; he's been fantastic for us.
"If he said he wanted to go what could you do? There's not a lot is there?
"It would be difficult. I've not heard a thing from Chelsea but then I never do.
"I hope Chelsea don't get in touch about Sol. He's happy at Portsmouth, loving it and he's been great for us.
"He's enjoying his football

Absolutely no room whatsoever. Money can't buy you everything, he's like Gerrard Liverpool through and through.

Besides with Hyypia getting on a bit we don't need to be getting rid of any defenders!

Re: January Transfer Window

Personally I don't want Liverpool to buy anyone (unless it's some world beater of course). I'd happily take a back up central midfielder & a left winger on loan but that's about it.

Pennant yesterday showed he's hopefully moved up a gear & now needs a run of games at Right Wing, best performance I've seen from him in a red shirt - just need someone doing the same on the left now. Don't really want to blow some cash on Young or any other winger when Kewell, Gonzalez & several others might come good & be fit!

Re: January Transfer Window

Personally the January transfer window is overrated in my opinion

In the last 5 seasons, I think you could name on one hand the transfers that have made a real impact; relegation, european place chasing or title aspirations regardless.

Agree with you - particularly about Pennant. Was seriously thinking he was never going to come good. As for the left Rafa seems to be keen to play Riise up there a fair bit. And we've got Warnock and Aurelio who can do left back and midfield. Do you know when Kewell or Gonzalez are back? And we have a glut of centre midfielders. Stevie G should stay there, Alonso, Sissoko when he's back and Zenden, Garcia and also youngsters like Guthrie and Peltier. As for strikers we don't need them. I see Cisse is back playing and scoring for Marseille where he's on loan too. Although it looks like he might stay there - I think the deal was done with a view to a permanant move.

Tottenham Hotspur

The Club is delighted to announce that agreement has been reached with Lens for the loan of French midfielder Adel Taarabt. Adel will register with the Club once we have received his International Transfer Certificate from the French Football Federation.

An attacking midfielder who can also play as a second striker, Adel can additionally play wide on either wing. He has represented France at U-16, U-17 and U-18 level.

The 17 year-old made his first team debut with the French Ligue 1 club earlier this season.

Sporting Director Damien Comolli said: “Adel is recognised as one of the best talents in Europe for his age group and as a club we’re especially pleased that we beat several leading Premiership clubs to his signature.

“He will be a healthy addition to the squad and is a continuation of our policy of attracting the best young talent as we constantly seek to improve the quality of the team both now and for the future.” Print This Article Email a Friend

I heard these rumours about Madrid looking for Bale, but I just think they are newspaper waffle.

Madrid have recently acquired Marcelo who also plays left back. He is the young Brazilian who has taken Roberto Carlos' place in the national side (believe he scored recently v Argies at the Emirates Stadium) and I am sure that he will soon take his place at the Bernabeu. Besides Carlos has another 2 years left on his contract and has returned a little to his old form this season after having a couple of stinkers.

Maybe when Carlos is gone they might have the need for 2 young left-backs, but not at the minute. Would be very suprised to see it happen.

I've read that Heinze could well be leaving us, possibly going to either Bayern or AC Milan.

Also, saw Morinho in city centre Manchester today, having lunch with Silvestre.
