Larsson To Man Utd!!

Henrik Larsson will be joining Man Utd on a 3 month short term deal in January.
A great bit of business to cover the strikers till they can bring in a main target in the close season.

Shame we will only see him in the Prem now at the end of his career

Very shrewd. I imagine he will mostly be used as a sub, but if he could for example replicate his CL 2005/06 final performance for Utd, then Utd may just be able to keep up their impressive 2-0 average going until the other strikers return from injury

P.S. 2-3 seasons ago, I think most would have joined Barca over any other club side

Great player in his day, but will be used sparingly by Man Utd I believe. Great finisher, has never been the quickest player, but great instinct about where to be in the box. Also links up play quite well. If he was 3 years younger I would have started him ahead of Saha.

everyone though sheringham was done when he came to united!!

will be interesting to see him play(if he does) - i think for the last 20 mins of a game or so he could be superb for united.

This is a real coup, a superb signing and a perfect stop-gap for a major weakness in the Utd team (forward cover).

I think even Chelsea, who also lack top quality forward cover (IMHO) would have been interested if they'd known it was possible...

I am no fan of Man Utd, but I would rather have a 35 year old Larsson than the current version of Shevchenko that resides at Chelsea. Larsson is on the verge of retirement whereas Shevchenko is playing like he has already retired.

well if rumors are true, we will be going in for torres next season, so no point in buying a top class striker in january.

Mate, watch that space.... there was talk recently of SWP going to Atletico Madrid on loan in January to oil the Torres move to Chelsea....

It's just that at the moment Shevchenko IMO is a passenger in most games for Chelsea. I have been a huge fan of Shevchenko for the last few years but it just does not seem to be working out for him at the moment at Chelsea. Injuries, new team-mates, tactics and adjusting to playing in a different country have had an effect on him.

Simply he does not look at the moment the same player he once was. Although I would not bet against him coming back with a vengeance as the season goes on. It's hard to believe, he has on current form scored goals for fun in Europe and Serie A for AC Milan.

I think he's starting to get to grips with things, his body strength / run & shot which led to Chelsea's corner / goal reminded me of the old boy.

However, SAF has made a great move here. Like everyone else thinks, pity he didn't come to the premiership a few years earlier.

After all his very unlucky / horrific injuries he was just looking for a final fling in the sun with Barca. Didn't do half bad really...

As he said, half a season with MU is better than a looonnng pre-season with Helsingborg. In the minus 20 temps. In the snow. With complete darkness....

Why did he leave Barca!

Torres was offered to UTD on a plate for 25 mill and UTD turned it down so you living in a dream world now he has signed a new deal with his current club which has buy out clause of about 60 mill.

Shevchenko is a quality player yeah he's not doing so good at Chelsea at the moment which I think is down to the way Chelsea's system if he was at UTD I bet he would be playing lot better.

Is it right Larsson personally turned down Martin O'neil this week before agreeing the move to OT.As cover I think its a great move by Fergie.I hope he gets 10 games so he gets a medal should we top the the league come May.

Sadly, the cynic in me sees this as Larsson looking for another 'Barca'. A retirement package with the chance for a CL run - as with last year. He's not as fit enough (and getting on a bit!) to hold down a regular place. He looked past it in Germany.

Yes he should score goals in the Prem, it is 70% crap after all, but live up to Fergie's depressing level of spin? I think not. Sorry, but I'm getting tired of the Fergie, Wenger, Mourinho, and these days half a dozen other managers, indulging in spin that would make Ally Campbell blush. Banter we've always had, Shanks and Busby's for example, was great fun, but now it's just spin & BS.

Larsson would only actually be around for 2 CL games....the 1st knockout stage matches in mid February and early March....but hey, they haven't even got there yet!

I think that if Larsson starts scoring immediately after his transfer. Man Utd will come to an arrangement with Helsingborgs about him. Possibly a transfer fee and a friendly etc.

Mate, what is this transfer about anyway? He leaves Celtic, saying it was about time he listened to his family and settled down back in Sweden...then he immediately joins Barcelona

Then he leaves Barcelona saying that his family are homesick and that he was going home, never to leave Sweden again.... then 5 minutes later, he is back over here...... Is Ian Dowie his agent?

Mate, don't think I'm getting at you on this point, because I am not, but the notion that, because Helsingborgs are a small team, so we can bung 'em a few quid and a friendly, whilst taking their best player, just does my b******s.
