Thanks: Gave 249, Got 1,441 | Charlton "Part Company" with Ian Dowie
Just heard this on Sky News.
Seems a bit premature to be getting rid of a new manager so soon into a season, let alone so soon after appointing him.
I think Dowie proved himself a decent manager in the past few years and could have eventually done a good job with Charlton. The start he had was not great only 4 wins and 8 defeats, but thay are on the verge of a Semi Final in the League Cup.

Simon Jordan must love this

Probably is a bit harsh, but it proves how well Curbishley did.
IMO, Charlton were punching miles above their weight and this was due entirely to AC. Indeed, my prediction when he left was that Charlton would immediately plummet.
I couldn't believe the board let him go, but I think it was because they wouldn't back him and he felt he had taken the club as far as he could?
I personally think he's right.
I do wonder where Charlton go from here now.
I can't think of a top manager who would want the job.
Maybe DOL?
No offence meant, if you're a Charlton fan mate

What's the odds on Curbishley returning? Must be worth a tenner.

No chance, unless the board will give him a minimum £25 mill to push on for Europe.

Really, really surprised at this news. What do the Charlton board want? He's been in charge about, what, 12 weeks? Ridiculous.
I wonder if Curbishley is lined up for a return?
And what about Dowie back to Palace?
Never say never. I thought I'd seen it all when Redknapp went to Southampton and then back to Portsmouth!

I'm disappointed for Dowie, he's a genuinely good bloke and I thought he was a good manager. Haven't seen enough of Charlton to know what their problem is this season - but it is true that Curbishley did a fantastic job there.
A ruthless business this football manager lark and whilst I think it's harsh to get rid so soon - it's not as if Charlton are adrift at the foot of the table - they might be looking at the table, hoping not to be bottom at Christmas.
We all know what normally happens to teams bottom at Christmas - goodbye Old Trafford, hello Roots Hall!

12 weeks is a bit too soon - especially as charlton looked like they were turning the corner - they were starting to pick up points...

If the rumours of dressing room unrest are true, you can bet JFH has something to do with it.
