Still won't win Euro 2008 though, even if you do qualify, which you wont.

Sorry, couldn't help myself - enjoy the moment.

Have England not got it wrapped up already????

If you listen to the press/players, they appear to have the world's best striker, the world's best defender, and 2 of the top 3/4 midfielders in the universe.

Yeah 1 pt from 6 - do you think the players are finding it hard to motivate themselves after winning the WC?

Re: Go On Scotland

Possibly, but even so, they should be beating Lithuania.

Maybe it's a fitness thing...the league hasn't even started yet has it, but still...Lithuania...and they do have players outside of Italy now of course.

I couldn't understand the Lithuania result but if you look at how the qualified for the World Cup - there were a few similiar results there as well.

Italians will be Italians I suppose...better to pull it off at the tournament than in the qualifers. England take note.

Think it's a long shot now but if they did do it, be a fantastic acheivement so best of luck to the Scots

Be nice to have 1 home Country playing next year

I wonder if England would still have anything riding on the last game if they were in this group

Agreed, I'm guilty of not giving Scotland enough credit for the way they performed in a group which is far more difficult than our group. Even if Scotland don't qualify I would be very proud of what they have achieved in this campaign if I were a Scot

Re: Go On Scotland

come on the boys today!

This would probably be scotlands greatest ever sporting achievement if we pull this one off.

The whole country is gripped in football fever and its magic, from the 5 year old in the street to the 89 year old granny cashing her pension.

Regardless of the score today whether we qualify (please) or not, this team of nobodys are now somebodys.

The English may scoff, but down to hard work and TEAM play we have put ourselves in a great position, with a limited team and not ONE so called superstar.

Re: Go On Scotland

I don't think we'll beat Italy today (please let me be wrong!) but we've had a great campaign and have moved from being 4th seeds in tourneys to be 2nd seeds for next week's world cup draw so a great campaign.

It just shows how hard our group was: we had to beat France twice just to get into a position where we have to beat Italy to qualify. Any other group and we would be there by now.

Agreed. Although I think it was the game in Georgia that blew it - if they have.

Overall though, whatever happens, Scotland can take many more positives out of their campaign than England have. They looked like a team again, rather than one or two 'quality' players among a load of also-rans, and, unlike England gave it their best shot in every single game. Christ, you can't ask for more than that!

If I was a Scot, whatever the result today, I'd be proud of what the team have achieved.

The problem will be though, delivering on the promise.

Absolutely.

If my matsh are correct, a win (or was it a win or a draw) against Georgia and
Scotland would only have needed a point against Italy. Then, a great chacne they'd have have.

As it is, a slim chance now.

Going to watch the game though

Unlike when England plays, you’ll probably find most English people will be cheering Scotland on.
