Chelsea Versus Barca tickets....

Long story short, I have my contacts around me that can, quite possibly, secure me free tickets to the Chelsea/Barca game that's coming up on the 18th of October.

Now, I have no idea how many could possibly come my way, but let's say I had more than I needed...

What then?

What would the legality of selling these tickets on be? Becuase, I'm quite in the need of some cash, and these would no doubt fetch a fair price. Any guesses anyone on the amount?

I presume they would be pretty damn good seats, given the source.

P.S. No asking for them, I don't even know if I'll get them yet. And they certainly won't be freebies, no matter how much help you guys have provided in the past!

Re: Chelsea Versus Barca tickets....

well, classifieds on AV Forums are against profiteering, which is what you'd be doing, so you'd probably be better selling them on eBay.

Wasn't Chelski one of the clubs that signed up for this legal organised way for season ticket holders to sell on surplus/unwanted tickets for a set maximum amount?

Just saying is all

P.S. To watch Chelski get stuffed, any seat would do

Yep , Man Utd and Chelsea have both signed up to VIAGOGO . Fans that want to sell on their tickets to other fans at face value , can do so . Its supposed to stop the touts making loads

But that assumes that the genuine fan wants to sell them at face value!!

If I was a season ticket holder and could not make it to a game why should I sell a ticket for, say £25 when someone would give me £150 for it?

In that case, you would become what's known as a "scalper", "ticket tout", "scumbag", "lowlife" and many, many other names too nasty to print in a family forum. If you are a "supporter" then it is disgraceful that you should be even contemplating such a thing. The legalities are simple - it is illegal to sell tickets to any event on for a higher than face value price, and free tickets will surely be marked as such. Thus, selling them for even 1p each would be illegal. If caught, you would face a hefty fine, possible jail time, banishment from every ground in the country etc.

I don't care how strapped for cash you are, would you ask for advice on how to go shoplifting at Tesco if you were hungry? The best way to advertise pirate dvd's on ebay to avoid detection?

Just take the tickets you need and leave the rest for others that would like a free ticket to a match.

Because the club owns the ticket, not you. You are paying for the privelege of being a guest at the club. If you do not want to go, you are supposed to return the ticket to the club for a refund. If you rented a flat or house and decided you did not want to live there anymore, would you sell it on to somebody else?

Re: Chelsea Versus Barca tickets....

*whistles*

Sure started a fire didn't it.

Well, if the face value thing means I don't have to spend time in jail, I'm all for it!

There's a limit to how greedy you can get...

EDIT. Just a quick point: I'm not using the money for a crack fund. Or to buy myself a yatch in the Med. Not trying to get righteous or anything, but it is for a conservational trip, and while I am attempting to work to earn all the money myself, a few extra pounds coming into the funds would be a welcome breathing space. So don't bash me for being a greedy so and so. I consider doing what I am planning to be doing to be vastly more important than spending 2 hours in a statium watching men kick a sphere around, and I LOVE football.

So you don't even intend going to the game. And your excuse is pathetic.

I don't care if you're Ghandi

What did you expect? If you're that righteous, donate the money straight to the enviroment group or whatever rather than spend it on travel for yourself

Re: Chelsea Versus Barca tickets....

Haha.

No.

Claiming that I am somehow not a true fan of football, becuase I don't think going to a football match is the most important thing in the world, is in fact.....

Laughable.

So... HA!

I never said I was going to the game. What I meant was, if there was a crunch situation, lets hypothsise that maybe my best mate's car had broken down, I would gladly sell my ticket off, so I could get him a new one in time for his wedding..

Or something else related like that. I give this example, becuase I think it best demonstrates my feelings.

And what is also Hilarious (capital H on this one!) is the fact that you find my excuse is pathetic. I'm sorry, I didn't realise that you had the ability to read minds, you must be using the new type of psychic computers that us common folk don't have yet. This is the only way you could know all the full details of my 'excuse'.

Thanks to the more helpful posts in this thread, I have decided that the best course of action would be to get into this 'reselling at face value to other members of the public' business.

EDIT: Gah, you are posting while I am typing. I was merely pointing out the fact that I wasn't aiming to use the money to buy gold teeth or something. Fact that I want to travel and help out in conservational work... yes, okay maybe I could do more. I could live in a box and donate my house to the homeless. But I have chosen not to. I have decided where my personal line is, please do not bash me for it.

Re: Chelsea Versus Barca tickets....

All the oohing and ahhing when really you wanted advice on selling it on

And if you really was doing conservation work, it's not hard to setup a charity auction advertising the sale to that effect

If you're a genuine conservationist, then perhaps in future you'd be less conspicuous. That may be the wrong word, but you get what I mean

Re: Chelsea Versus Barca tickets....

Understood, but I wanted straight up advice, without too many other details to cloud the response to my main question.

Once I get into the area of.. "I'm paying money to go to the otherside of the world to help people and the environment" I inevitably get hostile responses from people telling me how to use my money properly....

Now onto more productive matters... wouldn't a charity auction be illegal? Would I have to contact Chelsea beforehand?

Probably is. I just meant you could have been more open than the tone you inferred, i.e. I'm getting these for free. Any takers for £500? Ronaldinho and Messi on show!

I have my problems getting tickets on the rare occasions that I can afford to take all the family from here in Northern Ireland, or get the time off work, but I wouldn't buy them from you or anyone else.

I would like to go to this game (as would the wife and kids), but as has been said before, you should send any unused tickets back to the club, so that I (and others) can take our chances of getting them from there!

You know, I'm actually going ot be thinking of some of you, if/when I get these tickets, sell them on at face value/cash them back with the club, and then sit down next to the folk who I helped get the seats, and share a laugh with them whilst we sit and watch some good football....

And you know what? I won't even care to prove myself to you.

Thank you for you pessimism.
