EPL - best league in the world?

I see Man Utd are 3 up inside 16mins.

What sort of league is it that a professional team like Fulham can't even get themselves organised to keep Utd out for a little while - disgraceful, and a good bet to be near the drop this year.

I think this proves the gulf between the top teams and the rest.

I must admit I was a little worried when I heard the Man Utd score, but then I watched Chelsea cruise against City and all my fears just ebbed away......

Watching Chelsea and Man Utd today confirmed what I said over the last few days at work when we were discussing the EPL - that Chelsea will win it and that Utd will be their nearest challengers.

Although I do think that Chelsea will end up at least 10pts clear of Utd at the end. They just look so solid - with Ballack & Makelele to come back too.

But they should have taken whatever they were offered for SWP - showed again today that he hasn't a brain - kept running into defenders!!

RMCF: Once we get Ballack, Makelele, Cech, & Cole back & hopefully get Gallas back on track, I will feel more comfortable. I think we needed to keep SWP as cover for Cole after letting Duffer go. I think Mourinho also reckons SWP will be happier than most being on the bench regularly! With Bouhlarouz due to sign tomorrow, if we get Ashley Cole and a top right back, we will be formidable!

It pains me to concede to you, but I have to agree with you mate. He just seems to run about like a headless chicken! Whatever happened to the fella at Man City that used to beat players for fun and set up and score some great goals?

That Chelsea team with Ballack, Makelele, Cech, A. Cole and Gallas in it - oh dear.

That team will take some stopping - surely this must be their turn for the CL?

Also, didn't know they were after a RB - what's wrong with Ferreira? Always thought he was a very good player.

No, I don't think we are actively after a right back at the moment, as bouhlarouz can play anywhere in the back four and we can also rope in Geremi in an emergency, but a top player in that position would be the last piece in the jigsaw I think!

The CL is a hard one. Like all cup comps, it is a lottery once you get to the knock-out stages. If there were 2 group stages like there were a few years back, then we would probably win it, but......... I can't see us winning it! There are too many variables....

Good news....Joey Cole could be back in 2 weeks...

Surely this applies to every team thats in it as well, so Chelsea must be among the favourites to win it.

BY my reckoning, football now is based around a good defence as most managers play 'cagey' football. Chelsea have a great defence, and so are off to a good start - they then have the players up front to do damage, and for that reason are my favs to win the CL this season.

At last, the 1st post that actually tries to answer my original question.

I was trying to imply that it is too easy for the 'big' teams in the EPL.

I also agree about La Liga being the best league, and I'm not only saying that because I am a Madrid fan.

I think that there is a lot of quality players in a lot of the Spanish teams, and that the likes of Barca and Madrid don't get an easy game most weeks the way the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd do in the EPL.

Quality and ability? Most likely Spain or Italy. Entertainment? Our league, no question.

I would dispute this! As a Chelsea fan, I certainly don't go into any match thinking it will be an easy 3 points. Maybe it's the way we play, but we seem to have to work hard to get the initial breakthrough even against the so called lesser teams. Everyone is well organised now and if they haven't got the quality, they try to outwork you or kick you off the park and it is effective in some cases...

I think that the Spanish league has the main core of top players, but in terms of week in competition, the EPL is hard to beat.

It is the best league in the world for me.

Maybe not technically the best, but for viewing pleasure, without question.

Although not after my lot's drab performance against the blades.

Although was lucky enough to be sat a row from the front when the mancs battered Fulham

Yeah as long as your idea of entertainment is fast football with possession being given away easily.

You tend to find the Spanish and Italian sides will cherish possession of the ball, and if there is no forward ball on then they are happy to go sideways or back. This is not generally accepted in the English game, and players are pressurized into lumping it up if they have nothing on.

So it all depends on what you want to watch I suppose.

They have more time on the ball because the opposition let them have it in non dangerous positions, ie their own half, whereas we press the ball more, giving the player in possession no time to fart around on the ball!
