As I just wrote in another thread, he was awful in 2 group games, suspended in the next, 2 good games against Spain & Brazil, awful against Portugal & Italy.

Add to that, sent off for a disgraceful butt in the World Cup when FIFA are bigging up the whole Fair Play thing & still he wins the Golden Ball. FIFA giving hiom a consolation prize cos they know they used video replay to send him off?? (I'm glad they did though).

No-one remembers the Golden Ball winners anyway

Agree 100%.

Going into the final I thought that he would get awarded it wrongly ahead of Cannavaro. He really only played in 2 games. Cannavaro fantastic in every game up to that game.

I made the point that defenders never get rewarded. When I saw the red card I thought, 'justice will be done - he's just handed the golden ball to Cannavaro'. But for him to get it because it was voted for at half-time is crazy.

I think that it should be taken away from him for the good of football. Now I am his biggest fan and even have an auto'f jersey of his on my wall, but you can't let him stand as an example to young players based on that game.
