How terrible is ITV commentary ? - VERY

Oh man,

im on the laptop at the mo, doing a bit of work whilst watching the footy, and i cant believe what im hearing.

I have found this for a few years now that Peter DRURY is possibly one of the worst commentators on the planet and the portugese game has cemented that fact.
He is SO patronising. After a bit of skill from the Angola player - "AND LISTEN TO THE APPLAUSE ........... FROM THE PORTUGESE FANS"

Just coz Angola is a crap team, i hate his patronising attitude that they have jsut come to make up the numbers. Equador are an example that every international is tricky, esp;ecially at the World Cup.

Im surprised he hasnt mentioned the Man Utd Champions League final yet, he always bloody does.

IDIOT and CRAP commentator. And David PLEAT is as thick as ****.

The thing is angola are playing really well ,stringing more passes together than england did .

Itv's commentary seems contrived and not natural at all,the bbc still rules the roost for me ,especially half, fulltime summary.

Totally agree, but then again I don't think much of the Beeb's efforts either, but at least with them you can listen to 5 live or the crowd.

I personally wish BBC had all the games.

I can't stand Gabby Logan (who is Welsh and supports England) and all her cohorts. Really annoying.

The Beeb coverage is different class to them.

What winds me up is the adverts. That is the only reason it should be on the Beeb, doesn't matter than much in terms of punditry.

ITV have ruined F1, why would they be allowed to ruin the football as well?

I agree but the BBC aren't any better, Motson talks absolute bilge half the time and while I think Lawro is a miserable gimp he actually talks a lot of sense when he's commentating.
The BBC used to have the best half time analysis with Wright & Hansen but ITV have come good too with Big Sam and El Tel.

Even stevens I reckon! Who mentioned Sky?

Hopefully Fifa, UEFA and the FA get the hint then, by every one of us doing our part to choose BBC over ITV for the simulataneous WC Final coverage

Thank God for that!! Thought it was my TV.

There always seems to be a shimmer around the players on ITV games.

And on that point.
BBCs quality is far better than normal on my HDTV, but that could be coz ITV is so bad.

Shame you can change ITV to 5LIVE commentary (except when alan "I CANT STOP MOANING ABOUT EVERYTHING, EVEN POSITIVIE THINGS I CAN FIND SOMETHING TO MOAN ABOUT" Green).

Agree to some extent. Motsons drivel, backed up by his shameless toadying to the 'big nations' (like he does to the big clubs in the prem) makes for annoying listening. He and Lawro had me trying out the red button on the beeb to get rid of the commentary during the Italy game.

Big Sam and Tel are fun, but ITV's coverage overall is shamefully poor. As for Sky, you're avin' a laugh! Andy 'cliche' Gray and the giggling girls! No thanks!

Just bee watching 5 mins of the Portugal game, and its amazingly consistent how bad their commentary is.
I just keep shouting "EFF OFF" at the screen.

Why are the commentators obsessed with "what couuld have been" instead of fucusing on what is. if i hear another "BIG PHIL" comment and "NOT WANTING THE ENGLAND JOB" one more time im going to hit something.

What gets me about the ITV commentary is how much he always temps fate. Don’t know why but when it comes to the World Cup I get all superstitious. As soon as England go ahead he starts going on about who we are going to face next as though we have already won. “England cant lose this now” and they usual end up doing. Right at the end with a minute to go he says something like “it looks like England have won Sweden at last theirs only one minute to go“, and guess what Sweden go on and score in the last minute.

So everyone, don’t smash mirrors, walk under ladders or England will never win.

I had to laugh at Southgate the other day as he was busy telling people how it was probably more important for teams at the highest level to be able to defend set pieces!!!!!

Good luck Middlesborough

Whats wrong with that? She is also British

Personally I prefer the Beeb with radio 5 commentary. I like that Irish fellow , the one with the passion.

Oh my god I acctually shouted outloud at the Tv that ITV guy is so annoying

"Germany has never been so happy, Germany has never been so united"

What! WHAT! The Berlin wall coming down pales in insignificance to them winning the Quarter final. Please god stike him with lightning before the next game.

Yes. That really was awful. It's like Motty - the buggers must spend hours in their hotel room the night before dreaming up these 'bon mots', imagine the smug expression on his face as he practised that in front of the mirror.

I was just praying for the co-commentator (whoever it was) to just go "Shaaaat up, you slaaaaag!"
