How are footie chants invented?

Just wondered how football chants come into being? Do a group of fans sit in a room, write a chant and then practice with their mates in the village hall? Or does one guy start something easy to remember at a game and those around him catch on and it spreads from there? Or something else maybe?

...and is the new Peter Crouch chant of "what's that putting balls in the net? Is it a robot? Is it a robot?" (to that catchy "what's that coming over the hill...etc" tune) that I heard today, going to catch on? I doubt it.........

They usually come from some team forums and are a collaborative effort.
The best one liner I heard about was when Andy Goram had a headline in a scottish paper about his Schizo character. at the next game a fan started the chant !Two Andy Gorams - there's only two Andy Gorams! - the whole stand just caved in laughter and even he himself mentions it in his Autobiography!

Normally started by fans who go to the away games.

Best ones are "ad lib" TBH, couple of witty fans start it off and the rest follow.

One of my personal favourites was watching Newcastle play at hungary, (you can stick your goulash up your arse)....
