Thanks: Gave 4, Got 11 | Southgate for 'Boro boss job!!?
Has Steve Gibson finally gone mad. There is proof that players moving straight from the field to the Managers office doesn't work. I have nothing against boro' and I'd rather see them in the Prem. than going down and another smaller team come up. Don't think it's fair he hasn't done two badges yet either |

What happened to the "high-quality" manager that Mr. Lamb and Mr. Gibson promised the fans???
Surely appointing Gareth Southgate as the boss is a step backwards for the club.

The trouble Gibson has had, is in getting a new manager to work with the
existing training staff. Most will want to bring in their own. Gibson wants some
sort of continuity to safeguard the youth academy, and the structure of our club.

It does seem a strange decision to me I wonder if he's decided that the big name managers haven't really been convincing enough so time for a change ?

JohnG, couldn't be the other way around, and Boro where rejected? Or Gibson never bothered asking, knowing they'd be rejected?

Southgate has always struck me as a level headed type of guy who knows his stuff.
He was born for management.
As you say, with all those youngsters and local lads coming through, I'm sure he's the one to bring them on with the existing staff.
...and if anyone still doesnt agree...at least he's better than Glenn Roadshow |

Steve Gibson stated that we had lots of interest in the job, but the applicants
would all want to bring in their own backroom staff. This was unacceptable to
Gibbo. He wanted to protect the youth system and the current structure of the
club.

Are the Boro crowds reported in the press correct ? I was watching the match on the telly last night against Portsmouth and thought to myself that there were loads of empty seats. I've just looked at the report on the BBC website and it claims over 24,000 there

That's correct John.
The problem now, is every Boro game, home and away can be seen in at least
20 bars around the town on dodgy TV stations.
