Thanks: Gave 1,013, Got 1,272 | AVForums Golf Day II - who's up for it???
Well, 6 of us were on the first golf day on Friday 2nd June. The weather was glorious, the course was tremendous, the golf was - from some of us, especially me - dubious. It was a truly fantastic day. So we want another and we want more members.
Who is up for it and what dates are best???
Seeing "AVForums Society" on the board in the clubhouse fills you with a feeling of pride - who wants in????

Anyone any ideas as to venue, personally I think we should make it one to remember and try here.

I'd be up for the Belfry, (whatever the course ever since I watched the Ryder Cup in 85ish, I always fancied playing that closing (stunning) 18th hole
A bit better located for the Southern members but those from the North might want something a bit closer.
Whatever is decided, I think we should play at various parts of the country, Midlands, South, North, Scotland etc etc (so that all could easily attend at one time or another)
Of course, when we step up to the overseas trips it'll be pretty much the same for everyone

What's the thoughts on my local course www.craythorne.co.uk ?
There's a local train station (Burton on Trent) if you fancy a few beers or plenty of hotels, failing that I could set up a campsite in the garden

Anyway, who is the organiser this time? Any takers?
signs, perhaps you could find out about society deals at Craythorne and post the details.

Scotland for anyone.
West of scotland - home of golf!!!
Troon, Turnberry, Prestiwck old links, Western Gails, Glasgow Gailes. The best courses within 25 miles of each other.
Probably a bit pricy for a day out but loads of other good courses.
I would suggest the following. http://www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/golf/lochgreen.html http://www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/golf/darley.html http://www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/golf/fullarton.html
All three courses start from the same point. Lochgreen/Darley are the longer of the two course. Lochgreen is superb, links style, fairly long, with views over Royal Troon golf course and the ISle of Arran. Darley is long and gorse lined (need a few balls for that!!!) Fullarton is the small of the three course and you could play this in about 3 hours.
Either Lochgreen/Darley and one round over fullarton.
Easy to get to Prestwick ariport is only 5 mins away for cheap ryanair flights. Loads of hotels/B&B in Prestwick/Ayr (only 10 mins on the train) Train station is right at the starts hut.
They are public courses and food/beers etc very easy to get. About £40/£45 for a day ticket great value.

I've always wanted to go to Scotland, so it would be fine with me too.
I'd imagine keeping track of all the posts about where and when will get a little tricky to track once the thread starts getting into multiple pages
Woodywizz started this thread so i assume he's monitoring it and making notes on places suggested and times that peeps an and cannot make
Maybe a poll(s) on where and when may be an idea
