BBCi World Cup Commentary

WhoooHooo

According to the BBC, we [that is anyone with digital TV] will have the option of different commentaries during the WC.

"Viewers will have the audio choice of BBC TV or Radio Five Live match commentary, the real-time noise from the stadium - or the fascinating option of listening to commentary from foreign broadcasters."

No Alan Hansen ya beauty!...and possibly no 1966 either.

I wonder what listening to Trinidad and Tobago broadcasters will be like?

Alan Hansen is harder to understand than some foreign commentators.

He used to be an excellent commentator years ago, but funnily enough I sort of find his growing senility amusing to listen to!!

With the BBCs current lineup, it'll be a choice between Motson and Lawrenson on TV, or Jonathan Pearce and Trevor "Really Dull" Brooking on the radio..

Still, there should be plenty of "gooooooooooooooooooooooooooal!" type action from the Paraguayan commentary team

So you think Paraguay are going to score then!!

I always detested Pearce - he sort of goes on like one of those mad foreign commentators (although he has calmed down since he came to work for the Beeb).

Anyone here Motty proclaim, "Here's Cole trying to slid it into Owen" earlier this week

Thought that sort of think was confined to the showers afterwards...

I hope there is no delay.

I used to watch the footy on BBC (through Sky) and listen to BBC 5 LIVE at the same time and turn down the sound on the TV, but there was about a 2 second delay, which is ample time to get extremely annoyed at the commentator talking about what you were about to see.
If you watch it though analogue then the delay is about only 1 second, but still enough.

Hope it isnt like that through BBCi.

The delay I assume was caused by the time it took the TV signal to get to the satellite and back. However, if you are taking the 5Live commentary thru satellite then it should have the same delay and everything will match up.

just watcing the first 12 mins of the game COME ON COSTA.

And there is a delay, albeit only about 1/2 - 1 second. Not too noticeable, thank god.
