Palace take action against Dowie

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...ce/5029950.stm

I’m interested to hear what other fans make of this. As a Palace fan personally I’m in agreement with Jordan on this, he agreed to mutually end the contract with Dowie because he no longer wants to live so far away from his family. By terminating the contract on this basis palace waive that right to £1 million of compensation written into his contract.

A week later Dowie turns up 7 miles down the road. Hardly much close to home is it? In my opinion Dowie has lied to Jordan and Palace to get away from the £1m compensation clause that other clubs would have to pay… I guess the key is, could Jordan prove that in court?

It's a real shame that things have ended like this with Dowie. I really believed that he was going to be the manager that took CPFC forward. Two years ago he was god having steered up to promotion via the playoffs... I can't believe that it's turned around so quickly.

What's the neutral fans take on this?

Simon Jordan always comes across to me as a flash, obnoxious git.

But I think he's got a case here.

IF the only reason Dowie gave for leaving was to be closer to his family, which is what Jordan claims, then he's been very deceitful.

However, I believe Dowie claims he left 'to seek a bigger challenge'.

I would have thought getting Palace back into the Premiership WAS a bigger challenge.

Its a tricky one, because we don't know what exactly was said between the two men, though I did read Jordan said very soon after the parting that he would be very disappointed if Dowie now went and took the Charlton job.

Anyway, whisper is that Peter Taylor might be on his way back to Selhurst Park....

The press conference last week with Dowie and Jordan seemed very awkward. Jordan said that Dowie wanted to be closer to his family, but Dowie was not so certain. He agreed it was part of the reason he was leaving, but admitted he still needed to support his family financially. So it was no surprise to me that he turned up at Charlton today. That's life, as Trist says: can Jordan prove this in court? If so, 1m shouldn't overly worry an established Premiership side if they feel they've got the right man for the job.

Must admit I'm with flash jordon on this one.
Dowie looked real uncomfortable, if not shifty, in the press conference last week.
Looked very much like an unofficial arrangement had been agreed with Charleton and Dowie.

Otherwise what are we meant to believe:-
Dowie " I think I'll leave Palace and hope a bigger challenge comes along.....WELL ...What a coincidence, Charlton have now approached me to be their manager..what a wonderful stroke of luck"
Do me a favour

As Johnny Thunder says the OOC settlement will probably be in the region of the compensation anyway....

Also with Jordan on this, if what we heard in the media is true.

Its time someone stood up to all the dodgy dealings in football. Although Dowie says he has nothing to be worried about.

Also feel that it will never get to court.
