Kuyt - typical of the modern footballer

Did you see Kuyt from Feyenoords' quote today - that he always wanted to play football in the NE and a move to Newcastle would be a 'dream' come true.

Who is he kidding!!!!!!!!

With no disrespect to Newcastle, this is aimed at him getting a big payday. I am sure that as a pro-footballer a 'dream move' for him might be to Real Madrid, Barca, Milan, Inter, Juve, Man Utd etc, not Newcastle.

The real story is that these bigger clubs that I have mentioned have no interest in him cos they don't think he's as good as he thinks he is, and he is now trying to sell himself to the EPL where they pay silly wages compared to the smaller Italian and Spanish clubs.

I hope no-one buys him and he's playing for Feyenoord next season!!

Yeah I know that he will probably move on, especially if he starts any WC games, but its just the nonsense that they come out with now thats bugs me.

I always wanted to play for Chelsea !!

Most of the footballers who say this didn't know who Chelsea were 3 years ago.

Kuyt is sucking up a little bit but you would be amazed how much respect the Dutch have for Bobby Robson.

The fact that he was the coach of Newcastle after his stints with PSV and Barcelona increases the level esteem the Dutch hold for that club.

Dirk Kuyt is a really nice guy, I have seen interviews with him on Dutch Tv and he is really sorted. He isn't some arrogant footballer **** unlike like most of them.

I don't know why you are having a go at him, you seem to have chosen the wrong guy.

Do you believe him then when he says that he always wanted to play in Newcastle?

It is a possibility.

However, if you view this period as a job interview, I dont blame him for being nice about the club. He is a very understated guy and not at all arrogant. I think it is abit silly considering that you know nothing about him to take such exception to one statement.

You're probably right. I hope I haven't offended him.

Its just that I hear so many footballers come out with that line these days.

Anyone remember at the last transfer window in January he was 'very keen' on playing for Spurs, coz Davids had told him all about the club ?!

Fickle is the word...

Yeah, hopefully Liverpool.

I actually haven't seen a single quote from him ever talking about Newcastle, Spurs etc...No quotes, just paper talk. The only quote I've seen from him was with regards to Liverpool coming back in with an improved offer - that's it.

Can't blame him for answering a journalists questions.

there you go.. how is that different from the quote saying "liverpool have inquired about me" ?

Morientes left Liverpool tonight.

Perhaps Kuyt will have to abandon his 'dream' to play for Newcastle and go play for Liverpool now. I'm sure he's gutted.

I'd glady have Owen back, maybe that 12m release clause will be activated.

At least he won't have to move house, what with him wanting to permanently stay away from Newcastle and fly up there in his helicopter everday...that's when he's not on the treatment table.

Maybe Roeder can turn on that managerial magic with Owen, just like he did with Defoe, Cole and the rest of the current England squad...not to mention Kanoute and Di Canio.
