As the domestic season is now ever

is it not time to forget about it until it starts again? After all it does get rather boring blathering on about it all the time. There is a WC round the corner which I would have thought would attract greater interest

You may have a point.

The WC starts in just over 2 weeks, and we'll all be chatting about that.

But to be fair, once that is over all the transfers for the new season will start happening, and it will be very interesting again.

One nice warm summer's day in June about five years ago I tuned into Talksport as they were covering the Test match and my then car didn't have Long Wave to listen to TMS. I was astounded that the phone ins (of which there were many) weren't about talking sport at all but talking only about football. What astounded me even more was that the people phoning in were complaining about a referees decision to award a penalty five months earlier or something else equally inconsequential.

I found it mildly amusing until it ocurred to me that these people must lead very unfulfilled lives if this sort of thing meant so much to them.

There used to be a TV advert a few years back (can't remember who) that said 38% of men said their lives would have no meaning if there was no football.

Might be correct?
