Henry to stay?

Well, its the news all us gooners have been waiting for (even perhaps alot of other Premiership football fans).

http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?h...eep+on+Gunning

Certainly helps soften the blow of the CL final defeat!

I hope he stays and continues to miss sitters like in the Champions League Final.

Only kidding, it will be good for the Prem League if he stays.

I always thought he'd stay. His ego is too big to be playing second fiddle at Barca - he need to be the main man.

I'm hoping that he stays as it's good for the Premiership to have players of this quality.

I don't really have favourite players.

But I've always had an overwhelming admiration for Thierry Henry.

Not just because he is a great player, but because of the way he conducts himself.

He is a credit to football and a credit to the Premiership.

Overall, I'm glad he's staying. Though it would be better for all our teams if he left

This whole story appears to have stemmed from one article in The Sun claiming Henry says he wants to stay..

The cynic in me thinks that if a die-hard Arsenal fan journalist wanted to pressure Henry into staying, publishing an article like this might make it a lot harder for Thierry to say he was leaving.

As a football fan, I want him to stay - he's an excellent player and (usually!) a good ambassador for the game.

As a Spurs fan, I hope he goes and joins Gretna.

I agree mate. I know that some people will come back on this thread soon and start going on about his attitude after the CL final and perhaps he could have been a little gracious after the game (e.g. after the Spurs game) but for me, at least he was showing some heart and passion. Obviously, emotions are running high after such a massive game and he genuinely felt that he was being kicked all over the park with no protection from the ref.
Apart from that, the guy is a model professional and a credit to himself and the Premier League.

If the article is false, i don't think for one moment that something like this would "pressure" him into staying. If his own manager can't keep him i doubt very much a newspaper article would pressure him into staying!

The article has direct quotes, and as Henry has an exclusive contract with the sun, it's 100% true. Pressure him into staying? He's not a ten year old kid tbh.

He told everyone he'd announce his decision at the end of the season, and he does it 1 day after the final game. Man of his word, as ever.

I can see where you're coming from. A player that refuses to take any penalties he has been personally awarded. Who selflessly tries to turn a great goal scoring opportunity for himself into one for a team mate instead. A player that attracts very little, if any, attention to his private life and/or lifestyle. Who attracts very little, if any, criticism from his peers or even Man Utd or Spurs players.

The game can do without big-headed, over-inflated-egotistical nobs like him. I hope he doesn't resign for us because of that very reason.

Not taking penalties he has been awarded is a superstition. If you don't think he has an ego you're blind - it's part of what makes him a great player !

Considering the stature of the guy, I personally think he's one of the most humble players i've ever known. He hasn't forgotten where he's come from and always pays tributes to those who deserve it. No one would have blamed him if he'd decided to jump ship but his character, in my eyes, is of complete honestly and professionalism. Perhaps i'm looking through slightly rose tinted glasses but to me, the man is a legend.

I couldn't agree more, a modern day player that plays the game with the respect of a bygone era

It's a shame there aren't a few more players who show same loyalty as Henry. He hasn't stayed for the money, has never opened his mouth to the French newspapers and has genuine affection for the club he plays for. They don't come around too often !...........yes, Drogba, I'm looking at you !

So he loves scoring goals, he loves winning. And that makes him egotistical. Riiiiiigggghhhhttttt! I see now.

Have a look at what other non-Gooners are saying about Henry in this thread and take a red neck (oops, probably shouldn't says Red Neck to a Spurs supporter).

It really does gall you that we finished 4th an we're better than you lot as usual, doesn't it?

He's French for Heavens sake ! Of course he has an ego ! And don't tell me his goal celebrations (and lets face it we see them often enough) don't show a touch of Gaelic arrogance ?!

As for being galled at finishing behind you, well - I'm kind of used to it - but it did hurt a little this year considering the circumstances... Its funny how things work out, but for a virus you might well have been saying goodbye to CL and Henry next season... as it turned out, you've got both... The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, eh ?!

Have respect for monsieur Wenger, the greatest manager in the history of Arsenal FC. Surely no other manager has established so many players young and old in such a short period of time?
