John Charles I believe, and according to this http://2002.fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/0...rg/kempes.html Mario Kempes was never booked or sent off when playing for Argentina, which, for an Argentinian is quite an amazing feat

Is this players who have never been booked, or just players who haven't been booked while playing in the world cup?

I think most examples will be from the early days. You know, when physical contact was accepted.
Nowadays footballers fall down so easily just to get a possibly innocent player sent off, that I don't think you'll find many "modern" examples.

Sir Stanley Matthews may be another, and as far as I know Jackie Charlton was only ever booked on the telly advert running at the moment.

Surely you can let him off with that one, after all he was only over there getting his son some proper medical treatment and fancied a game between visits. Sorry won't hear a thing said against this man!
