Boxing on ITV

Calzaghe v Lacy is on ITV tonight in what I think is a genuine 50/50 fight.Personally I think if Joe had this fight 5 years ago he would win comfortably but fear he might struggle now.Either gonna be Lacy by KO early or Calzaghe with a late stoppage or points win....have to have a think before placing my wagers later

Who is your money gonna be on?

Also a couple of decent fights on the undercard with Enzo v Hobson promising to be a corker

also got UFC58 to look forward to tomorrow night, which has a few good match ups, with BJ Penn making a return

I think Calzaghe is a good boxer but has rarely been in with Genuine world class boxers in their prime. Lacey fits in this catagory and think he may be too much for him.
Looking foward to it though

The Calzage fight wont be until about 2am I think. I dont know what the early undercard is like but I am only really keen on the Calzage fight.

The undercard is worth watching.Sometimes I think its a shame that people only try to catch the main event when a lot of the time the fights on the undercard are better

Enzo probably has the toughest fight of his career against the British champion Hobson in an attempt to win the interim WBO.Both fighters can whack a bit so should be an interesting fight.

Wayne Alexander is fighting as well and you can usually guarentee he will either knock his opponent out or get knocked out himself

What a cracking start

What an excellent start to the evening

Best and most well matched fight Ive seen in a long time and the sportmanship between the two men was superb Full credit to Enzo and Hobson

Lets hope the rest of the night lives up to this....

Well I couldnt have been more wrong about the Alexander fight, how tedious was that?To be fair it wasnt Alexanders fault,Macdonough just wanted to run away for 12 rounds

Only another half hour to go

Calzaghe totally annihilated Lacy

I will say though in Lacy's defence he just didn't seem right from the start of the week and walking out to the ring had a face like he had already lost.
IMO he should walked it but fair play to Calzaghe he proved not for the first time what a world class boxer he really is, and to keep up that pace for 12 rounds was a treat to watch.

Great result I didnt expect it. Just makes you wonder why he is only putting on his first real display against a good fighter at the age of 33
Why wasnt he fighting this calibre of boxer with this sort of display 4 or 5 years ago.
If he had, he could have been considered a real great at this weight but he still has a couple of years left so I would really like to see him face some genuine contenders and do the same to them

TBH I couldn't belive the odds on this fight - on betfair I managed to get 2.6 on Joe!! (Which I took!!) against a guy whos fought nobody really (omar apart and he didn't put him away)

Lacey was so over hyped, boxer always beats a puncher.

Great night of boxing though.

I suspect Mr Warren wanted to ensure he made as much money as possible before risking one of his top fighters against some decent opposition

I knew if Joe could take Lacy's power he would win but was not expecting such a one sided beat down, that was superb.I was a bit worried that he was getting a bit cocky half way through and was gonna end up getting knocked out but he absolutley owned the poor Yank

I would like to see the punch stats from the fight,I dont think Lacy could have landed more than 50 punches the whole fight

I hope Calzaghe goes up to light heavy next and knocks out Tarver

Great fight and good to see it on normal TV
I was hoping that someone would give Lacy's screeching girlfriend a good slap

It IS good to see boxing on normal TV, I agree! But is anyone else just a teeny bit annoyed by the sheer quantity of adverts that ITV manage to shovel between rounds?

Awesome fight! J.C looked super fit , i can't believe he was still hammering away after 12 rounds without a mark on him!! Fair play to Joe , he certainly taught Lacy a thing or two

indeed - congrats to JC - 3 more fights and he will retire according to him earlier in the week. Hope he does, 44 fight - 0 loses that would be a great one to retire with in the background.

Greatest performance by a British boxer in living memory. Period.

I don't think people on this side of the pond realise how good Jeff Lacy is - just as I don't think the Yanks realised just how great Calzaghe is. They do now.

Joe completely dismantled an unbeaten former Olympic gold medalist. Only his brittle hands stop him from being one of the greatest fighters of all time - he just can't risk too many heavy punches for fear of breaking bones.

Do not forget about Lloyd Honeyghan upset against Don Curry, who at the time was regarded as the best pound for pound fighter. Lloyd won in six rounds!!

True, aidey - and I watched that fight live on TV too.... but Calzaghe effectively posted a perfect score over the 12, barring that point deducted - all 3 judges had him on 119...
