Liverpool v Arsenal

What did you make of this game last night ? To be honest it didn't really excite me at all.
To me Arsenal are looking weak and toothless at the moment and Liverpool really need a good goal scorer.

agree with you completely.

if liverpool had a good goal scorer then the gap to chelsea would be alot closer.

hopefully they can get a good striker for the new season (they are only playing for 2nd/3rd now)

It would be nice if a couple of teams could put in a challenge against Chelsea so that they do't run away with the title again.

I enjoyed the game. Mainly because i'm a Liverpool fan and it was fun to watch Arsenal flounder. I was sitting next to my best mate, who is a Gooner, and his angish was sweet.

I was a bit peeved at our lack of goals. Fowler is close to getting a goal, and his best chance was with his poorer right foot.
Morientes had the best chances of the game and missed the ball both times!!
Gerrad was making a nuiscence of himself as usual.

Bring on Dietmar Hamann. Is he Super Sub or what? What a shot and our other sub, Garcia, following up (another super Lehmann save) with a sweet, sweet goal.

And as for Arsenal? Lehmann was on fire and without him Liverpool would've had about 6 goals. The rest of the team were hugely lacklustre.

Oh, and we should get rid of Cisse. He's useless.

FA Cup and Champions League for the Reds this season.

Fairly happy with performance, just annoys me when we have so much possestion in games & a severe lack of goals. If that were Man Utd they would've won 4-0.

I think it's time to bring back Hamann for a few starts, Alonso looks to be drifting from his top form at the mo & it's at this time of the season we need to freshen things up. Sissoko had another solid performance, I'm sure Mr Wenger is wishing he had him in the middle of the park..

Apart from the obvious man of the match in Lehmann, their best player was probably(imo) was Flamini at leftback (although Gerrard was never troubled by him). I wonder if the gooners out there wished they cashed in on Ljundberg a couple of years ago - talk about a has been. He used to be a thorn in Liverpools side. Henry typically did nothing in a big away game (apart from that hatrick 2 years ago), Pires didn't touch the ball & the new guy upfront looked like a poor mans Kanu..

I was amazed when Pires was substituted as I didn't even realise he was playing up until then What on earth has happened to Ljunberg over the last year or so ? Is it down to a lack of service for the Arsenal attack or is there something else wrong I wonder ?

I have to say that there is something seriously not right with Pires and Ljunberg - surely these two can't go from the superb players they were last season/the season before to what we've seen this season without a good reason.

They've both been pretty average all year and just don't seem to be "up for it". Lack of confidence maybe?

Don't get me wrong, on his day he's the best player on the planet but this season, far too often, he has disappeared away from home & at home Arsenal have become a 1 man team on too many occassions.

I would now also put a large some of cash on him leaving in the summer - there is not a single reason inside football for him to stay, he won't win the champions league at Arsenal & that's all his CV is missing..

Especially when they normally get 20-25 goals between them. Ljundberg has simply lost it, I think the passion has gone. Pires is weird, I went to Spurs v Arsenal earlier this season & he was the best player on the park by a mile when he came off the bench, he also played very well only last week. He still has it but I think against a pretty strong midfield like Liverpools & having no time or space he was very restricted..

Ditto. Liverpool created plenty of chances without really exciting anyone who isn't a rednose, and plenty of those aren't blown way by their football this year. While Arsenal were, well, pathetic!

As someone said it could have been six but for lamemann! Something is sorely amiss in the land of Arsenal, and it has nothing to do with too many 'young players' or 'ageing stars'. There is a total lack of cohesion coupled with a lack of desire which is unheard of in a Wenger team. Somethings going on off the pitch, and Wenger needs to get it sorted before Arsenal fade into obscurity playing in a half empty White Elephant. (yes, yes, hoorah )

I had to laugh at 'if we had a good goal scorer we'd be closer to Chelsea'. Nope, sorry, not on that performance.

As before Freddie needs a fresh start. He looks stale. Pires? I think Wenger thinks he's too old. Keeps dropping him then re-instating him. God knows why. Is Wenger losing it? The comparisons with Grahams last years are too close for comfort.

Besides, Middlesborough 3 Chelsea 0. It, was, a, FIX! That's how far Chelsea are ahead, and the FA were getting worried we might start voting with our feet. Hence a pathetic boro side who couldn't beat a team of sheep beat (easily) in form Chelsea. I might believe in miracles, or even divine intervention, but boro outplayingChelsea at this stage of the season? No sorry, not wearing it. Discuss............

bad refereeing and a bad game to watch to boot.just when i thought the wigan game was bad we couldnt finish a chippy meal and arsenal where as toothless a team as i have seen fall from grace in a long time.i cant believe the style of football arsenal are playing as they where the most exciting team to watch a few seasons ago.morientes has had more than his fair share of chances now and instead of letting pongolle go we should have got rid of him.
