Winter Olympics

Still a few days to go I know, but I'm excited already. I find it therapeutic. Anyone gonna be watching?
Some Brits who might be worth watching:
Alain Baxter. Had his bronze (i think) medal taken off him after the last games. Still skiing well but I think the standard in the slalom is pretty high right now.
Finlay Mickel: Been doing very well (for a British skier) in the latest downhills, think he has got in the top ten in the last few weeks. Could be in the top 20
And of course Rhona Martin and the female curling team. That was one of my sporting highlights of 2002!
Heard we are pretty good at short track speed skating, but never watched it myself.
Cheers,
Tom

The Winter Olympics are cool.

Strangely there is something cosy and warming about watching them on telly. I particularly enjoy the nutters who do the downhill and the skeleton.. And are the biathletes not supposed to be the fittest of all sportspersons? Or is that F1 drivers? [Apart from Monoya obviously]

Yeah, I think they are amongst the fittest. I heard that when they shooting the got to train themselves to fire in between heartbeats

Big chemmy alcott fan too, used to be in a ski team with her, we went to the same school! (Yeah, great claim to fame! )

I'll be watching some of it. I think the fact that you're in a nice warm room watching them out in the cold bright snow and ice has something to do with the feel good feeling of watching the Winter Olympics, plus the fact that there's a nice mix of thrilling, treacherous disciplines and cool, if you'll forgive the pun, strategic sport.

Looking forward to it too I nearly went over there but was put off at the price of the tickets and also the distance between some of the locations. I hear they are going to lose a fair bit of money hosting it which is a shame. Looking forward to watching the men's downhill on the PJ on Sunday morning. Come on Finlay

Downhill skiing was ace! - not a usual watchable sport for me but great drama, enjoyed the halfpipe aswell with the "flying tomato" winnning.

Best of all was the TOP GEAR special - winter olympics - another top program - loved the rocket powered mini off the ski ramp!!! Superb!
