When was the last time Celtic had an international left back?

I cannot stand Gordon Strachan!! and to make me hate him more he refuses to buy a decent left back!! wot the hell is he signing Dion Dublin, he wasnt even good enough for celtic at 29 never mind 37!! We need a left back and have done for years!!!!

Well I am afraid I cant see Heinze, Cole, Maldini, Carlos going to Celtic
I think the best shot you have would be an Irish left back who happened to support Celtic as a kid, OShea probably not, you could try and rescue Harte from Spain, but I think I would take Camarra.
You should be delighted he turned down some huge clubs to sign for the Bhoys...Well Ipswich anyway

In britain, only Man Utd are a bigger team than Celtic (and i dnt mean Celtic are the 2nd best team in britain just now). And dont you realise Celtic are regularly in the Champions League and would be this season if Gordoan Strachan wsnt the manager!! and Mo Camara isnt an international left-back, he cant get a gamefor guinea!! Dont forget 2 and a half years ago Celtic had quality players in every position and got to the Eufa Cup Final, and since then they have replaced quality players withe arseholes like No camara

TEAM FOR FINAL
Celtic: Douglas, Balde, Mjallby, Valgaeren (Laursen 64), Agathe, Lennon, Lambert (McNamara 76), Petrov (Maloney 104), Thompson, Sutton, Larsson.
Subs Not Used: Hedman, Sylla, Fernandez, Smith.

EVERY POSITION YOU SAY!!

ye we had at least one player in each position who was european class!! and to be honest wot the hell have Spurs achieved? Spurs will never be as big a club as celtic and will probably never win a european trophy

Not really the point is it, you were talking about Celtic.

Larsson is the only European class player in that team, Lambert was well passed his best at that stage.
Lennon, Petrov and possibly Sutton are just about Premiership class hence the reason Lennon only plaed for Leicester, Petrov attracts mild interest from middlesborough and Sutton is now playing for a bottom three club.
Thompson couldnt hack the premiership, Mjalby just about managed in Championship as is Douglas now and why McNamara is playing at Wolves.
Facts speak for themselves.

What makes a big club anyway? Money? Players? Fans? History?
Celtic have managed 3 Euro trophies, the same as spurs as it happens. I have to completely discount Celtics domestic history because its meaningless
Who have had the better players over the years??
Celtic perhaps have a bigger fanbase than most in Britain and Ireland because there are only two team in Glasgow (and alot of support is based purely on religion )

Just a quick check, Euro Class - Yes Or No ?

Robinson YES
Boruc YES

Stalteri YES
Virgo PLEASE!!

King YES
Varga PLEASE!!

Dawson YES
Balde NO

Pyo YES
Camara PLEASE!!

Jenas YES
Malonely YES

Davids YES
Keane YES

Carrick YES
Lennon NO

Tanio YES
Petrov YES

Defoe YES
Hartson NO

Keane YES
Zurawski NO

lol ye i am agreeing!! i am disgusted with some of the new signings quality!! The board seem to have lost ambition!! and Celtic behind Man Utd have the biggest fanbase worldwide!! it just hurts to see West Ham who are a much smaller club than Celtic spend £7million on D.Ashton when celtics budget was £7million for the season!! Premiership clubs get £18million in TV money Celtic and Rangers get £1million!! and wot makes you think the current spurs team are Euro class? i mean its not as if Spurs are a European club! Although i do appreciate wot M.Jol is doing and i think you have a good team but it is frustrating for Celtic fans knowing that they are one of the biggest clubs in the world and they insisnt on the likes of Mo Camara, Paul Telfer and Dion Dublin!!!!

If you can tell me a member of that Spurs team isnt Eurp class, I'll be suprised. 10 of them (Robbo, Stalteri, Pyo, Davids, Tanio & Keane, I also didnt mention Mido, Naybet and Murphy and Ghally!!) have a good few years Champs Lge experience, and I dont mean the 8th Pre Qualifying Eliminator round against Plovdiv, I mean Knockout stage experience.
Add to those King, Defoe, Jenas, Carrick all Senior England International and England U21 regulars Dawson who is an outstanding defender, Lennon, Rotledge and Huddlestone.
That my friend, with the addition a few big summer signings and the other solid back up players we at the club (Ziegler, Kelly, Gardener, Reid, Davenport, Cerny - Again all regular Internationals) IS A EURO CLASS SQUAD WITH A EURO CLASS TEAM, WHOEVER IS PICKED

Ye you have a good team just now but they heavily lack euro experience!! that spurs team is good but i am afraid it isnt as good as past Celtic teams when the club actually spent money!!!

No matter who is in charge of selecting the team and new players I guess we have to get used to the idea that our revenue simply wont support the type of players we'd like to see at Celtic Park!

Your not alone in not being convinced that GS is the best man for the job - mind you MON dint convince everyone all of the time either!!!

Football and financial reality don't seem to go hand in hand (I wonder if it ever did) - were going to have to take a bit of pain until a predominantly Home grown team come though.

I'm with you on some of the recent signings and wonder why were 'wasting' good money on old codgers - its never worked for us in the past and I cant see it working now; mind you the likes of Ian Wright would probably argue that it worked out just fine!!!

Best regards

Joe
