To be fair, i also back BJ's induction.... he is a UFC legend and has been around for ages, would also back up a call for Rich Franklin as well.

When i think UFC i still think of:

Royce Gracie
Kimo (bizarrely but that could be because he walked in carrying a crucifix!)
Chuck Liddell
tito ortiz
Randy Couture
Ken Shamrock
GSP
Anderson Silva
Matt Hughes
Rich Franklin
BJ Penn

dont get me wrong, i dont think the likes of Kimo should be put into the HOF, its just an image that springs to mind when i think "UFC"....

Kimo was also the first person to really push Royce in a fight but yeah he wasn't that great.
When I think of those early UFC's and "no Hold Bared" fights in general I always think of Paul Varleans aka The Polar Bear. That guy took some serious punishment in his MMA career. Marco Ruas destroyed his legs to the point that Varleans couldnt walk and collapsed and Mark Kerr, in a Vale Tudo fight, Knee'd Varleans repeatedly in the head whilst Varleans was on his back
Me and a mate of mine would often joke that Varleans was probably the worst Ultimate fighter ever.

Not a bad fight actually, but certainly nit a main event. I'm still optimistic (can't believe I'm saying this) that Bisping makes the card against Stann or someone similar.

How ironic that we just had a spammer (now deleted) advertising weight loss products, when I've just posted about Rumble Johnson!

A lot has been written abotu Fred Ettish since he was humiliated at UFC 2
Fred Ettish: Where Is He Now? - Where Is He Now
Worth read.

As for Joe Son, I loved the fact the Keith Hackeny choked him with a one hand "grip of death" around his throat, oh and those groin strikes.

But I stand by Paul Varleans, as i've never seen anyone take the beatings that he did on numerous occasions.

I've got nothing but love for Paul The Polar Bear. In the early UFCs only two things were certain. Varleans would take a beating and Pat Smith would lose via ankle lock.

Pat Smith also tapped out when Royce mounted him in the final of UFC 2. It was like "how do I get out of this?" S**t I better tap"
MMA sure has evolved a lot since then

Bob Sapp would tap to a heavy breeze sweeping across the cage.

Some thoughts regarding injuries , to many UFC events etc..

So there seems to be more and more injuries at the moment ruining the cards and so meaning re shuffle after reshuffle. So i have an idea why not book fights at less notice say 1/2 months in advance so then limiting the chances of the fighters pulling out? I guess this wont work for commercial reasons but its just a thought.

on the MMAhour Ariel keeps banging on about too many cards and over saturation . I disagree because as a fight fan i want as many cards as possible . I guess my view is different because im not paying stupid money on the PPV's. One of the things that frustrates me is the massive gaps between the fights of the top guys like GSP, JDS, Silva etc etc. i know injuries play a part but even without them it seems to take an age to see them fight again.

I don't think that booking fights later works for a number of reasons. First the fighters need time for a long training camp and weight cut.

Secondly as you say, they way to book fights well in advance in order to promote them and sell the tickets.

As for over saturation, I see Helwani's point. I also want to see a many fights as possible, but there isn't the depth in the divisions to cover that many. They either need to reduce the number of events, or reduce the strength of the smaller events to keep the big names for the big events.

I'd rather have weaker (in name) fight night events with stacked PPVs once a month.

I think it's a good match. Wiman is 3-1 in his last 4, but the main thing us he has never been submitted. It's an interesting fight which will tell us if Sass can catch someone much tougher to submit. If not, is he just a 1 trick pony or well rounded enough to survive when the sub doesn't come.

Despite my tendency to moan about UK cards, this is actually shaping up to be pretty damn good. Low on star names of course, but high on potentially excellent fights.

I'll still probably wait until the last minute and try to snap up a cheap ticket on eBay.
