When I started the recording this morning it came up with the 'Please subscribe' message but after a few seconds the show started.

Same again though I couldn't fast forward but went back to the guide and went back into the program again and it allowed me to FF.

Had a reply from ESPN...

Quote:
Hi Mark,

I am very sorry to hear your displeasure regarding the UFC fights. At the moment ESPN is in discussions with UFC regarding the showing of certain live events.

Over the past two years, ESPN has shown UFC main events and preliminary bouts for our viewers and fans of the sport. We have recently been informed that we are not able to continue to show some live UFC content on our channel. Due to this, the Hardy v Lytle was shown online at UFC.TV on Sunday the 14th at 2am. ESPN continues to televise UFC main events (Next up: UFC 134: Silva v Okami – Sat. August 27th at 2am BST) and provides coverage of UFC and mixed martial arts online at ESPN.co.uk and ESPN.com, and on TV via MMA Live.

This is our official statement regarding the matter, as soon as we hear more from the discussions we will notify all our UFC fans. We hope to have this resolved soon.
We hope to keep you as an ESPN subscriber.
Kindest regards,
ESPN Customer Care Team

I love dan hardy and i love his entrence but what was he doing in this fight i have seen him alot better than that he looked like he could not be arsed and was a one trick pony and what he did in the last min was sluggish am very suprised he never got cut from the UFC but he does have a great chin. He can be class and i hope he steps up his game in the next fight.

Same here i like Hardy. He caught Chris a few times last night and looked like he rocked him but just didn't seem to want to, was weird to watch. It seemed to me had Hardy followed the punches up were he connected he could of won that.

Can anyone tell me what has happened to Paul Daley aswell? Not seen him for ages, like that guy alot

Paul Daley suckerpunched kosh after their fight and was cut straight away, now in Strikeforce.

In the post fight press conference Hardy said he didn't know what was wrong with him and his mind wasn't on the job his head was somewhere else. He said he's gonna take some time off and get back in the gym.

he is done imo was rushed to a title shot far to early and has since had 3 tough fights to be fair but i never did understand how he got a shot at the title so quick.

Ed Herman got a sweet victory and was superb off his back, i have always liked this guy since TUF.

Henderson took Miller to school which was great as im not a fan of Miller but Henderson is now up there as one of my top fighters to watch after that performance. Henderson vs Guida would be a great fight .

Ah right, shame he is savage, like him. Is Strikeforce shown in the UK at all?

I had exactly the same so pressed back up then choose a user defined start point of 10 minutes and all was fine. The event was watchable and fast forward / rewind worked as expected.

Loved the Lytle / Hardy fight!

Thanks for the tip, I deleted it after thinking it was unwatchable, noticed it's on again this evening so I will record it and fingers crossed

Select your program then then push the right arrow key and you should scroll through Last Viewed, User Defined, End and Start. When on User Defined enter the time in digits that you want the program to start from - e.g. 5 (minutes).

They did a fair job of the show but whoever decided to put that many adverts on (and the same adverts every time) needs their head testing. By the 400th time I'd seen the Blue Square premiership I was thinking to myself "Never subscribing to this bloody channel".

The two main bouts were particularly good. Better than some UFC main events.

thanks, worked a treat, i'll stop my bitching and moaning now then

Thought the event was ok but nobody seemed really at their best aside from Henderson....

Sodollah was a long thai match and hardy/lytle was a boxing match until the sub...

and agreed on the ads, i know ESPN have their moments but was a bit ridiculous by the end and between every ruddy round was annoying...

he has since been tko'd by nick diaz and wrestled to oblivion by woodley, not doing to well.

Didnt think hardly was going to win, i said it when the fight was announced i thought it was going one way, hardy saying that crap after the fight pee'd me off, why take the fight if your head isn't into it and your thinking of other stuff? sounded like a load of crap and he just got beat by someone better and only just in the top 10

The ufc are not going to cut hardly lorenzo tweeted just after the fight he wasnt cutting him,

I also watched this on SKY 433 and just FF the beginning where it tells you to subscribe. The event is repeated a couple of times this week in case anyone hasn’t seen it yet.

Good card overall with the Henderson fight being my fight of the night.

Amir Sadollah vs Duane Ludwig – Sadolloah needs to learn some takedowns so that he can mix things up a bit.
Donald Cerrone vs Charles Oliveira – I liked Oliveira when I first saw him in the UFC but he looked a bit too small against Cerrone and his stand up is average at best.
Jim Miller Vs Ben Henderson – Great job by Henderson and fair play to Miller for constantly trying submissions off his back. It made for a very exciting fight. I do hope that Henderson DOES NOT fight Guida next as Guida will just dry hump his way to a boring win.
Dan Hardy Vs Chris Lytle – Technically Hardy looks like he has really good stand up but apart from a good punch his isn’t as good as he thinks he is. I know Lytle is unorthodox in the way he fights but Hardy should have still mixed things up a bit better. Am surprised he was not cut and I think he needs to fight some guys way outside of the top ten to build up some wins again

I suspect the decision not to cut Dan Hardy is a business one. Given the efforts that the UFC have gone to so far to become the single big MMA organization, allowing a high profile fighter like Hardy, with a large fan base, to go somewhere else would be a gift to someone like Bellator or the phoenix Elite XC.

Absolutely it’s a business decision as he has a big following in the UK but tbh I’d rather watch a top ten ranked US fighter on a UFC card that an average British fighter.

disagree re Clay Guida vs Henderson i dont think Guida will be able to out wrestle Henderson quite so easiliy as he is a big lightwieght . Would like to see the fight tbh because i want someone to pound Guida to the ground..

I hope you're right about Henderson stopping Guida from taking him down.
Although Henderson GnP'd his way to victory it was very exciting whereas with Guida its all about controlling his opponent on the ground and then doing just enough to stop the ref from standing them up. When Guida is forced to stand up he usually has an exciting fight because he can take a hell of a punch and seems to like being punched.

Absolutely top class event, with every bout turning into proper battles! If I had not been able to see this event I would have been phissed!!! (and although I could see it, it was only in SD)

Whatever is going on between the UFC & ESPN needs soring now.

I had the same thing happen, and also found that exiting the programme and coming back in set it right. You can probably user define it to 15 minutes and the first bout is just about to start.

Yeah, thankfully I watched the recording and so was able to fast forward through the 2 hours of adverts!!
But from previous experience any Fight Night that is aired free in the USA will always carry huge amounts of adverts, so if you do watch it live be prepared. When it's actually a numbered event then you get less adverts and more bang for your buck!

Dana White popped onto the Underground to nix a few rumours, he said they are in negotiation with GG but a bit away. Could be smoke and mirrors though and the reem is due in soon, will find out in next few weeks I guess.

Well just got to watch the event tonight during night shift. What a show!

All 4 fights were solid, main 2 were outstanding.

I'm a big Henderson fan so I was delighted with his win, and what a fantastic way to go out for Lytle.

Hardy looked horrible, I'd almost have given the first round a 10-8, Lytle must have outstruck him about 5-1. He landed the hardest shots in the second round but was again badly outstruck. Loved the submission finish, Lytle did what GSP couldn't and tapped out Hardy!

Gonna try and track down the prelims now...

PS, maybe with a little sentimentality involved, Lytle goes out with 2 more bonuses and a new Harley!

Fight of the Night - Hardy vs Lytle (I'd have given it to Henderson vs Miller myself)
KO of the Night - Cerrone
Sub of the Night - Lytle

$65k bonuses for them all, and Lytle won a 2012 Harley-Davidson Blackline for winning the main event as it was sponsored by Milwaukee's Harley Davidson Museum.

And last post (before I'm accused of being a post whore!)

Night Shift News...
  • Strong rumours abound that the UFC has finally signed a deal with a major TV network in the US. Te network is Fox and the deal is reportedly a 7 or 8 year contract worth about $90M a year.

Report: UFC signs long-term deal with Fox - UFC - Yahoo! Sports

Not sure yet how this will affect the UK. Fox owns the FX network in the US which would likely a lot of the UFC programming. There is also an FX channel in the UK, but I'd imagine they would prefer to stay on a mainstream sports channel for their events, maybe TUF going to FX.

  • Also rumours floating around that the UFC have come to terms with Golden Glory and Overeem may be in the UFC for 140! DW confirmed that talks were ongoing but nothing else. GG said last week that they hoped a deal could be reached and their main issue was over money. GG wanted extra pay to make up for what Reem would lose out on by not competing in K1 and Japanese events.

  • John "Doomsday" Howard has been complaining about Dan Hardy's ongoing presence in the UFC. Howard was cut after 3 losses, while Hardy is still there after 4. Personally I think it's purely business. BAMMA is growing noisier all the time and in Watson, Marquardt, Trigg, Escudero and probably soon Daley, they have enough big names to draw some attention. Hardy would be a huge asset to them in a market starved of top level MMA by the UFC's failure to return as often as promised.

  • Dana White has called Yushin Okami "the best fighter to come out of Japan". The hype for Silva's next victim opponent begins, although he's possibly right.

  • As mentioned on the broadcast, trainer Shaun Tompkins has died. Highly respected trainer, and died of a heart attack at just 37!

Sources: Renowned MMA trainer Shawn Tompkins dead at 37 | MMAjunkie.com
