Phil ... once he realises the tide has changed, he might post something in praise, hoping nobody notices (he does this often - although with the OC it was damning it ages before, then wishing it well, then flipping it back again with a predictable over-egged bad review to qualify his original stance)

- anyhow, as the misery guts moaning about why BBC1 should have round the clock coverage, what are the chances of him visiting this region of the forums?

all very good ideas mate..and I wouldn't have minded what it costs if we were told up front what it would have cost.

but we had it "sold" to us as costing around 3 billion...then within a matter of months it started to skyrocket!?

just hate how they have no accountability - but that seems to be what a lot of society is about these days.

Ok fair enough we all knew it was going to be a fortune and much much more than predicted.
Some think tank will come up with some obscene amount of money to how much the economy profited.
It's all about a legacy, for to long this country has swallowed in its own self pity watching banks and huge conglomerates rinse us.
To me it's about sticking 2 fingers up at everybody my only hope is that it inspires a generation of kids to put the Xbox pad down and go get some fresh air.
The biggest disappointment for me would be the lack of tickets for everybody the tickets have been a fiasco. And I had hoped the big north south divide to have been bridged, which I don't think it has.

I must admit I wasn't looking forward to the Olympics. Probably more to do with the forecasted travel chaos and the cost.
Also I can't say I have ever really watched an Olympics, no matter where it was staged .
But since the Opening Ceremony I have been like a man possessed. I have sat and watched so many sports I wouldn't have even thought of watching before.First thing i do when i wake up each morning is check to see what medals wee have won the night before. I have been cheering every time Team GB have won a medal.I have even tried virtually every day to get a ticket to any event at the Olympic Park (without success unfortunately).
So I will hold my hands up and say I am now a convert.

Yeah, it gets like that. I mean watching judo - who's got a clue what's happening? I sat through 2 hours of archery and was really upset when it finished. Heck, I'm now watching tennis and cheering for Andy Murray. He's no longer the miserable Wimbledon nearly man, he's now a Team GB hero who's going to stuff that Swiss guy.

Great post.
Hopefully there are some kids out there who feel the same and are inspired to go and do it themselves !

I've shouted, screamed and cried all week.
"it's been emotional"
