Canada Gold - Ice Hockey

Totally loved getting another one over the Yanks again in the Gold medal match tonight. What a game it was, and in OT there really was no contest, we dominated and it was very fitting that the best player on the planet at the moment, Sidney Crosby scored the winner.

The olympics as a whole for Canada was brilliant, not only were the games itself superb, but Canada topping the gold medal table with 14 was something that has never been done before... ever.

I'm a proud Canadian tonight. Well done to all, and well done to the Ice Hockey lads.

Agreed, an excellent win for Canada. Don't you just love the yanks getting beaten

It was a cracking goal from Crosby and made up for everything that had gone wrong for him during normal time!!

It was great to see Mr Hockey, The Great One and Moose at the game cheering on their team!!

A great game of hockey and it needed a special player to win it. Really pleased for the hosts, as let's be honest the entire games would have been viewed as a disappointment if the boys hadn't taken gold!!

Crosby has never played a crap game, he's a 100+ point regular in the NHL, thats scarily good. Granted in the last couple of games he was not as effective when it came to scoring, as we would have liked, but he was double teamed most of the game and took some heavy hits for his team, this was always creating openings for players like Iginla and Heatly to come through and grab the goals. You have to remember, that although Crosby being a star that he is, doesnt shine as bright in that Canadian forward line as its pretty awesome already.

I knew he was good but I've never seen him play so he just didn't seem to quite live up to the hype... Great finish with the goal in the end though.

Crosby is as good as they come, but he didn't have a great campaign - very quiet and just not himself - maybe he was carrying a knock?

Anyway, he showed his class in OT and sealed the gold for the home nation.

Just on great players, my favourite has to be Ovechkin - what a player, but he also was a bit disappointing as well. Still he'd be in my starting line up every time

Well done Canada, nice to see they turned up and showed some respect to the Olympics unlike in '06.
I had a bet on USA to win, due to Miller playing well and Canada looking suspect when they have a lead in the final minutes of a game, not a bad guess.....
Who else could be but Sid the kid to get the winner. He actually turned up for a shift because he'd done nothing at all the rest of the games, then again he'd been carrying a 'knock' on his ankle that he picked up before the Olympic break.

Overall it's been a great Olympics for the Hockey and hope the Nhl'ers carry on playing in future because it's for the good of the game that they do.

Can you imagine a forward line of Ovechkin, Crosby and Iginla
