Little Master SACHIN TENDULKAR

Sachin Tendulkar scored the first double century in one-day international history as India piled up 401-3 against South Africa in Gwalior.

Tendulkar finished on 200 not out, surpassing the previous individual record score in the 50-over format of 194 jointly held by Pakistan's Saeed Anwar and Zimbabwean Charles Coventry.

The 36-year-old achieved the new landmark from the third ball of the 46th over, clipping his 140th delivery faced for a couple into the leg-side from the bowling of Wayne Parnell

What a batsman what a guy

and south africa are in disarray at the moment 107-6 LMFAO

I am happy for Tendulkar. I hope they show some of the footage on Sky news/Sports news. 200 not out is a fantastic achievement.

For a moment I didn't think he was going to get there with Dhoni blazing away and taking all the strike in the last few overs. I think the biggest cheer of the day was when Tendulkar was on 199 in the last over and Dhoni hit a single to give Tendulkar the strike.

Apparently Don Bradman and his wife were watching ST some while ago and his wife described ST as the modern day Bradman. Bradman responded that he would never have been as good as ST.

High praise indeed!

Hi,

This was considered an almost impossible feat - the fact that Tendulkar was able to do it at 36 is just totally unbelievable & unlike Anwar, this double century was not achieved against a poor side - South Africa are one of the strongest teams in world cricket today. I am surprised he had the strength to even lift the bat & his legs did'nt turn to jelly at the end of the first century let alone going on to the second!

I am surprised there has been so little reaction to this achievment in the press - it really is a major milestone that Tendulkar has set - he is without doubt - the greatest batsman in the history of the game imo.

Suave!

The little fella is a genius - no doubt about it. One of the all time greats. But just like in other sports it is silly to try and compare different eras. The game has changed beyond recognition over the years. So have the pitches

The Don has an average over 99 in test match cricket. He batted 80 times and scored 29 centuries and 13 half-centuries. No one from any era comes close. They never will.

The best test match batsman in history is Donald Bradman, by a long long way.

The Don didn't get the chance to play limited overs cricket.

Still love Sachin though

Not taking anything away from his innings but there are two South African sides - the one that is possibly the best limited overs team in the world and the rubbish side. Let's not forget that England slaughtered the rubbish side in one of their recent ODI

I would guess that there was plenty of reaction in the Indian press but not only are foreign teams not well reported in the English press but cricket is currently out of season and the papers tend to major on footie news
