Unofficial reports are that John Terry is no longer the England captain.

Seems to be the reports. Given Cappello's nature it's hardly surprising although (if the reports are true) making out of form and rarely fit Rio Ferdinand captain seems questionable

You know football's gone mad when the 'Skycopter' is following a footballer on his way to a meeting with his boss

Christ! I despair of Sky News and the rest of the gutter press I'd rather have someone like Lampard as captain rather than Ferdinand who has "missed drug tests accidentally" in the past

So do we think Rio's bans might suddenly disappear. Cos at the minute he will barely play a game before the egypt friendly!

If knocking off Wayne Bridge's ex-missus is a no-no for an England captain it's probably safest not to appoint any of the Chelsea squad as skipper... by all accounts...

I haven't taken any notice of all the chatter about this. Does this mean she's been through the whole team then

She's slept with about 5 of the Chelsea squad. I couldn't be bothered to buy "The Sun" to find out which ones though, sure somebody on here will enlighten us.

Good job Capello wasn't in charge when Beckham was England captain, he would have gotten the boot in theory with his playing around.

think sundays news of the world might make things a great deal worse.

as far as chelsea go interesting that 4 have openly been named and one has not...so either they cant confirm it or its someone they dont wanna cause too much agro for at the minute to perhaps keep the current missues on side.

still what you gonna do.

rio ...banned by the fa for missing drugs test.
steve g. acquitted of abh (everyone else there pleaded guilt and sentenced)
wayne. alleged dubious past with working girl...err granny
becks. alleged extra marital affair while england captain

I would take a miracl to find a young lad being paid that sort of cash that hasnt got somthing on them to be captain.

Ashley Cole has just been banned from driving too doing 100+ in a 40 (?) and tried to get off thinking his status was above the law

Gareth Barry would be a safe pair of hands, not a guaranteed name on the team sheet on current form though.

just cant see barry doing it...i would go with wayne..defo name number one on the team sheet and if you look at his behaviour on and off the field is forever improving.

Rio's gonna have to get his finger out to be garanteed a seat on the plane .
I wouldnt be suprised if his 4 game ban gets reduced even though it shouldnt. otherwise he will play only be able to play against milan and in the carling cup before the egypt game... and i doubt fergie will be please to see him play sunday then wed.

I still see Rooney F'ing and shouting at the ref most games. He's also still partial to calling the ref a cheat - I've read his lips a couple of times recently.

I'm surprised at you saying that. Last season I'd agree 100%, but this year I've seen a big improvement in his temperament.

Admittedly it's not so often but I've seen it a couple of times recently.

Regarding any choice of captain, don't forget it's a World Cup year and the press will do their best to keep stirring things up in the England camp as they've done every time there's been a major tournament

Not suggesting Rooneys a saint yet but it was amusing watching him the other day after stephen hunt tangled with him. Looked like Hunt was ready to have hand bags and wasnt entirley sure what to do when Rooney walked away.

I think it's fair to say none of the candidates are whiter than white.

The question mark for me on Ferdinand (regardless of previous indescretions) is his fitness and form. Prior to his inury he wasn't in the best of form and an extended spell on the sidelines will not have helped.

Gerrard recently went through criminal proceedings and his form and fitness have also been off the mark in recent times.

Rooney is the form player and maybe a candidate in the coming seasons; would giving him the captaincy now be a help or a hinderance?

Another question....who will be vice captain?

Ferdinand captain with Gerrard as vice-captain. Not convinced about Rio given recent form, although to be honest even though I'm a Liverpool fan and would like to see Gerrard get the captaincy, not sure he should be. He's been pretty poor in the last few games.

I am amazed given Ferdinand's recent suspension for violence that he is considered a fit and proper professional to take the captaincy role.

I think the FA have short memories too....they after all appealed to double his ban at the time of the drugs escapade.

It's important to remember that Ferdinand was made the 2nd in line for captaincy by Cappello when he took over so it's only natural he has been given the position. Whether he is fit or not etc. is another matter and the personal questions some are raising over his 'promotion' were still there when Cappello became boss. I think if he chose someone else altogether, including Gerrard, the media/fans would have then questioned why Ferdinand was overlooked

This is a big shot in the foot for Terry as he's only just turned 29 and conceivably could have been captain for the next 3 major tournaments.

Although the 'captain' role is glorified beyond rational means in the English game (much more relaxed on the continent), he must still be devastated.

£150k grand a week, a wife and kids yet he still could not manage to bring himself not to sleep with a former team member, and friends, ex wife (not to mention get her pregnant!). Supposedly these players 'have it all' yet he has paid the price for his morals

I am amazed that he is considered for England captain since he's over rated, imo.

Captain "you know I also make major blunders soon" Ferdinand just won't do it for me.

Not even in my starting 11.

Captain Calamity suits just about as much as Calamity James used to.

I saw the news that Terry has been dropped on Sky Sports, didn't know their sister channel sky news were following him by "Skycopter" that is rather ridiculous to say the least. Sometimes it feels like Sky news is a televised version of the sun

I can't really complain with the decision by Capello, I just hope the team spirit is still reasonably good next time the England squad join up

The stories doing the rounds at the moment are that (allegedly) :
  • Another 8 girls have come forward whom have slept with JT in last 18 months;
  • JT was also having an affair with Hilario's mrs;
  • JT has been hiring his Wembley box out for cash, a box which he is given for free due to his England captaincy;
  • That Bridge's ex mrs was also sleeping with Drogba and Ashley Cole;
  • and that she will spill her guts on all of this after being paid £250k by The Sun

Considering the Statement she released through Max earlier, I wouldn't take any of the other allegations seriously, yet
