I imagine Frank had trouble squeezing into the seat......they should have put the "bigger" players in the emergency exit rows where there is more room.

Re: Lampard injured on Plane

It is somewhat ridiculous given that these players fly all over the place all the time and no matter how used to it they become, it must take it's toll on them over time. Considering the way the game is played at such a high pace nowadays and the expectation is so high you would want them to be given the best facilities possible for them to perform the best they can.

But! It's a reality check as well for (some) of these prima donnas

Re: Lampard injured on Plane

I bet Roman wished he'd lent the FA one of his two planes now. I know he's flown England players home in the past on one of his planes from internationals.

Re: Lampard injured on Plane

Always makes me chuckle when football fans refer to any footballer as being fat, Rooney gets it all the time as well. It's a bit like Dawn French walking upto Cheryl Cole and saying "You've put on a few pounds love".

Np.

At least Ledley King wasn't on board....he'd have been stretchered off by the end of the flight.

Ledley would have been drunk and probably fought with the pilot by the end of the flight!!!

Re: Lampard injured on Plane

Surely if Lampard had wanted a business class seat he could have forked out the extra himself....he can't be short of a few bob.

I may not be a great fottie fan myself, but the same view has been expressed by a number of my more avid footie fanatics here.

It was a chartered plane, on which they all travelled together with no business class seats.

I don't think they would allow players to make their own way, buying their own tickets. (they might get lost) They all travel as a team.

On a more serious note....Lampard out for 3 weeks.

Gutted...I can almost guarantee he'll rush back and injure the thigh again. We'll miss him for the big game away to Arsenal.

Fair enough.....in which case,a stupid idea on behalf of the FA,as they could even have asked the players to go halves with them for better ttransport.

An expensive mistake.

Re: Lampard injured on Plane

I was reading over lunchtime, that Chelsea will sue the FA for Lampard's wages until he returns. If he's out for 3 weeks, that £450,000.00 () the FA will owe Chelsea, for a game that they are only receiving £400k for.

I wonder what would happen if I made a similar mistake in my job!

Typical tabloid rubbish I'm afraid. Chelsea have already confirmed they will not be claiming compensation from the FA.

EDIT: Hmmm....there was a statement I read earlier stating they wouldn't ask for compensation....it's not there now though?!

I'm with the England players on this one. I go Virgin Trains London - Manchester often enough and legroom even if only for 2 hours is a god send

You shouldn't believe it.

"Following a medical assessment, Chelsea denied reports the injury was because of a cramped plane journey to Qatar."

Yep...also the BBC have now re-inserted the line about Chelsea not pursuing compensation.
