Re: Alot Of Goals In The EPL today

I'm working on the theory it is because I swapped Torres out of my fantasy team and he has since scored five

I am starting to believe that the defences are conspiring to be even worse than last year. Not one team this year I would say have hit any sort of form holding it all together at the back

Few red cards about today of course

Re: Alot Of Goals In The EPL today

The number of goals today is no surprise, it has been a familiar theme through the season thus far. Arsenal put 6 past Everton, ManU put 5 past Wigan, the 7 goal Manchester Derby etc. The lack of draws is weird though.

Are defences just worse this year or have the top teams in particular just got better at opening up teams who park the bus? Or are they just taking more of their chances.

Weird that high scoring is the theme of the season so far, last season if I remember everyone was amazed by 5-19th being separated by 3 points or so after 8 games (might be an exaggeration but I cannot be bothered to look). I know which one I prefer!

I have to say goals are good
but some defences are lapsing hard which isn't good, I'm really suprised with hull the amount they are conceding

They didn't defend the best anyway but they have sold their best defender and not replaced him so it is no surprise to me TBH. That said, I don't think any defence in the world could have stopper Torres today.

I don't think many would disagree with you there. I can't think of any better striker / goalscorer in the world right now.

Isn't it about time for Giggs to become a sir?

Fantastic servant to football and club, very modest and doesn't parade/conduct himself like some of the professionals do.

I think if any current player has a case then it is him. It is amazing the condition he is and that even at 35 he is still one of the top 5 players in the league.

Just when I get sick and tired of the antics of Bellamy or Barton and find myself criticising footballers in general, I stop and remember players like Giggs and Scholes who have set amazing examples about how to maintain a career for nearly 20 years.

It is times like this that I cannot help but remember back to those people who over the summer for the past few years said that Fergie should have got rid of both players because they were too old to play at the top. I think they may be the same people who said that Darren Fletcher was only around because he is a Scot and Evra was a awful buy after seeing his admittedly disastrous debut. It's almost as if SAF knows more about football and team building than the media and football 365 readers; who knew?

@DJT75 - Classic.

Question, Gerrard's goal; did he mean it?

Agreed. I'm a Gooner, but even I will happily admit that Giggsy is pure quality, through and through.

Yes, based on performances rather than hype, reputation or potential, I think Giggs is probably one of the top players in the league right now.

Top five is perhaps a bit strong. I agree with where your coming from though.

Is it me or is Nani complete and utter tosh? The game vs Wolves and now Stoke his final ball has been completly shocking he just doesnt seem to be able to create. With Ronaldo gone i was expecting him to step up to the plate then Giggs comes on and changes the game in Minutes

Re: Alot Of Goals In The EPL today

Sigh, another game today and further confirmation of mediocrity

Remember people, Hull conceding 6 should not be a surprise. It was only that Newcastle were so inept as being unable to score one measly goal which kept Hull in the league

Maybe, he had a pretty good start to the season IMO and put in some good performances a few weeks ago and in pre-season, I guess the dips in form are part and parcel of a young player. I think he just needs to get a run in the team and learn (like Ronaldo did) that flashy tricks do not make it look like you are playing better than you are, he just needs to confidence that his simple abilities like his great dribbling, ferocious shot, decent passing and awesome pace will be good enough. It took Ronaldo 3 years of first team action to learn that final product is everything so don't write him off just yet, everything said about him was once said of Ronaldo and look how he turned out.

Another 7 goals today, getting daft now, how about some 0-0 bore draws and run of the mill 2-0 home wins.
