Lasers at football matches

I thought I noticed this last night when watching Man U in the CL on sky.

There was a point of bright green light on the camera on several occasions, which at the time I though might be someone shining a laser at it.

Then I noticed this comment this morning

BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | M | Man Utd | Ferguson plays down Rooney strop
Quote:
The United players had to cope with a rogue Besiktas fan trying to upset their concentration by pointing a laser in their direction.

"It was in the first half, although thankfully the police did something about it," explained Ferguson.

"They managed to get the culprit, which is good because I noticed it particularly on Jonny Evans. It seemed to be on him all the time."
Is this sort of thing common?

Re: Lasers at football matches

I remember Ronaldo being dazzled by a laser at a Champions League game a year or two ago.

Re: Lasers at football matches

There was a similar incident at Stamford Bridge (I think it was last season), where an away supporter kept shining a laser on Drogba.

Re: Lasers at football matches

Not really because so often people get confused by the two, just as they do with The FA and The Premier League.

Anyway, I don't really subscribe to these zany conspiracies that English football is discriminated against. Seems it's purported by people with chips on their shoulder playing the victim card for whatever reason.

Re: Lasers at football matches

I am sure the same thing happened to Ronaldo a couple of seasons ago , possibly in France.
I know laser pointers are a big concern for the aviation community
