England vs Croatia Live?

Does anyone know where Wednesday's match is being shown? I'm pretty sure it's not on Sky Sports or ESPN. I read somewhere that it'll only be available online via PPV. Sounds a bit strange for a World Cup Qualifying game.

(Not that I'm seriously wanting to watch it! I'd be perfectly happy listening to it on the radio but I'll have little nieces and nephews over on Wednesday who'll want to watch it live.)

Re: England vs Croatia Live?

It's an 8pm Kick Off and is live on ITV 1.

I find this webpage very helpful for all fixtures, kick off times and TV Channels

Live Football on TV - Sport on Television - Live Football on TV

In fact this may happen not for Wednesday but for the Ukraine game.

The rights are being sold by Kentaro an agency like Sportfive who sell the games on behalf of the foreign FA.

They have instructed Perform to sell the game online PPV as they have only had one bid (from the BBC which was then withdrawn) for the game which wasn't acceptable.

'Traditonal' broadcasters may get more interested but no one is going to move on it until after Wednesday's game. The rights value will of course be affected by whether anything rests on the Ukraine game.

The FA have even had to issue a statement on it.

Re: England vs Croatia Live?

Starting to get a bit out of hand for me all this business with England away games. I already subscirbe to Sky Sports & EPSN, absolutely no way I'm paying £3.99 to see an England match streamed online certainly not with my dodgy connection.

The FA and others have to start getting realistic about what they can get for these games, nobody's going to match what Setanta paid because Setanta went bust

Well this is nothing to do with the (English) FA they can't tell the Foreign FA's what to do, nor should they it'd be a bit rich for us to start dictating to other countries about what money they can make out of their rights.

Let's see what happens Kentaro and all the other players involved all know that come Thursday they can really get down to negotiating.

Thing is though you can't tell me they are messing about with any other FA in our group in such a way. It's a classic case of everyone thinking it's treasure island here. You say the FA can't do something, well if countries want to play these games I'd not sell them the rights to the home games here simples.

This has got out of hand, hopefully the government will get of their backside and sort this mess out and not just for England matches, I think all home nations should be entitled to view these matches home and away, it's all wrong.

I think that's what I misread as being this Wednesday's game. Hopefully, nothing will rest on it by then, noone will watch it streamed and somebody will get the message that it isn't on!

Well that's certainly one way of going about making a winning World Cup bid for 2018. To think the rest of the world thought we were arrogant when making the 2006 bid.

Also they'd (I'd assume) have to breach or wait out their contract with their own agency (always used to be Octagon CSI).

Come on dazza you know fine well they wouldn't do anything of the sort.

And what do you honestly think the Government can do?

They plugged it enough during saturdays game by taking a quarter of the screen up.

Nothing to do with arrogance, you can't honestly tell me the other footballing nations in our group are being held to ransom in this regard i.e. pay a stupidly unrealistic sum for this game or we'll put it exclusively on the internet for £3.99 PPV.

This should be classed as a national interest along with the other home nations games. I think it should be part of the license fee we pay entitlement to see these games.

Event's like Wimbledon are protected by the government where we frankly have one competitor who's in with a shout in the mens game and nobody in the women's.

Porbbaly not no but the games of other countries in our group probably weren't bought by a comapny that proceeded to go bust like Setanta so they aren't needing to re negotiate broadcast deals.

I'm sure all England fans would like to see all of England's games broadcast without having to pay any sort of subscription, but it is not the FA's place nor the Government's to start interfering and demanding that the broadcast rights for England away games are sold to simply appease the English audience. It's that level of arrogance that doesn't win many friends and with a World Cup bid approaching and with favours to be asked, these kind of bully-boy tactics are going to go against a successful bid.

If the BBC, ITV and other broadcaster don't match what is deemed a suitable offer to show the match then understandably they'll be turned down.

Obviously you're one of these disgruntled fans who thinks less of the relations between the various national FAs, but put your business head on for a while and ask yourself what you'd do in Kentaro's position? Would you concern yourself with the demands from England fans that the match is shown on free-TV, or identify that this nation has a huge football following and look to sell the broadcast rights for as much as possible? I'm sure you couldn't care less that the agencies working on behalf of our own FA probably do exactly that too.

Who's being held to ransom?

If no broadcasters are offering a suitable offer then why should they sell?

Do you think the agency working for the FA simply accept whatever offer they receive from some Croatian broadcaster for example and make-do, or do you think they try to negotiate the best deal, looking at all avenues available to them to maximise their profit?

Obviously Ed your quite happy for other nations to take the P!ss when it comes to matter like this, I'm not. I'm no expert but I can't imagine in Croatia, Ukraine, Belarus they have much in the way of Pay TV to exploit so the FA no doubt sell to the FTA channels there at a realistic cost.

You can't tell me these countries don't make enough of the back of Becks and Co turning up. Completely and utter greed this imo.

Maybe because it's better to get something rather than nothing

As has been said hopefully the boys can do the business tomorrow and this lot won't be in a position to take the michael

The agencies have a product to sell on behalf of the nation's FA and anyone with an ounce of common sense would try to get as much as possible for it, what do you not understand about this? If no broadcaster is prepared to meet a valuation for the rights then they either drop the price or explore other possibilities, which has been mentioned in the link hdsport has provided. Have you read it?

I see, so you think it's acceptable for the UK TV broadcasters to take the **** simply because it's a satisfactory result for you, but should the agency selling the rights even consider doing so then that's a big no-no.

If you're not happy, contact SKY or ESPN and ask them why you're paying for a subscription to their services and why they're not showing any interest in acquiring the rights to what you feel is a game of national interest.

Going to be interesting to see what happens in the earlier kick off between Ukraine & Belaurs, if Ukraine don't win a draw against Croatia will see us qualify.

Come on. You don't think suggesting that the FA and Government force another nation's FA do something, despite having no right to, is daft.
