City fans - Dunne any good?

I read from the BBC website that we've agreed a fee with you for Richard Dunne?

Is he any good? I must admit he is a player that has gone under my radar. I know he is/was your captain and since Laursen and Barry have gone we are a little light on leaders.

Cheers.

re: City fans - Dunne any good?

On his day, stunning, seriously up there with the best. OK he's scored own goals, and had red cards, but that shows he was there, not shirking anything.
For 6mil you've got yourself someone capable of holding his own with the best in the prem for another 3-4 season IMO.

Can remember him having Rooney and RVN in his pocket a few years back (of course he scored 2 OGs in the next derby!), and IIRC, against Liverpool during Sven's season, he single handedly gave us a point, some stunning blocks and last ditch tackles.

All I can say is thankyou, Dunney, without you we wouldn;t be where we are now.

re: City fans - Dunne any good?

Richard Dunne is one of the most underrated players in the Premiership IMO. Been very steady for us over the last nine years and has matured into a great player, captain and leader ... I'll miss him and wish him the very best of luck at Villa.

He has a surprising turn of pace for a big fella, is good in the air and organises well at the back. He is, however, partial to the odd spectacular own goal but I for one love him as a player and for what he did for City over the years. He made Richards and Distin look a lot better than they are / were with his covering play.

Cheers Dunnaldinho and good luck at Villa.

Signing finally went through today. There is a farewell message and video on the MCFC website and he looks a pretty good signing judging from that.
