Champions League group stage draw

With the qualifiers completed, the teams have been seeded into their pots for the draw today (August 27) at 5pm BST.

Pot one; Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Milan, Arsenal, Sevilla, Bayern Munich.

Pot two; Lyon, Inter, Real Madrid, CSKA Moscow, Porto, AZ Alkmaar, Juventus, Rangers.

Pot three; Olympiakos, Marseille, Dynamo Kyiv, Stuttgart, Fiorentina, Atlético Madrid, Bordeaux, Besiktas.

Pot four; Wolfsburg, Standard Liège, Maccabi Haifa, FC Zurich, Rubin Kazan, Unirea Urziceni, Apoel Nicosia, Debreceni.

Looks like there could be some very difficult draws with some good teams in pots 3 and 4 with some long journeys too. What odds Real Madrid to be matched with Milan, ManU or Liverpool for a returning player hyped game.

Re: Champions League group stage draw

Looking forward to this, pretty good odds it seems an english club will draw real madrid in their group based on organisation protection.

Re: Champions League group stage draw

Should be an interesting draw and it's set up perfectly for one of the clubs raided by Madrid to try and get revenge. There are a couple of good sides in the lower pots too, so there could be some tough groups, i should think there are a few of the big boys hoping they don't draw Atletico.

Agree great potential for a group of death or two

Yep, Wolfsburg from Pot 4 are the team to avoid IMO. Pot 3, Atletico and Fiorentina are both dangerous....I can feel a 'group of death' coming up, I just hope it's not Chelsea's.

I dunno, I think ManU are always really lucky in avoiding a group of death scenario and I reckon that they will draw Rangers for another battle of Britain (because they always get a Scottish club!).

Watch out for Standard Liege in pot 4, a very good team. I also fear for anyone who has a trip to Haifa.

Re: Champions League group stage draw

Being a neutral a part of me would love to see one of our clubs (England) draw Real Madrid for the spectacle, but on the other hand I do like to see them all progress out of the group stage.

Re: Champions League group stage draw

Fancy Real to draw Man U and for Arsenal to get an easy passage - it always happens

Re: Champions League group stage draw

Had a quick look on the official UEFA site and they reckon things kick off at 5:45 CET (4:45 BST)

Re: Champions League group stage draw

Looking at Pot 1, I'd imagine the unseeded teams in the pots below will be hoping to draw Liverpool or possibly Sevilla.....

Re: Champions League group stage draw

I live for these draws

Some make it sound like its easy to go through you still gotta play top of your game in each match and travel to some unknown places

Anyone could win it. Chelsea's year I think
