As a Saints fan myself, I find it the most exciting news we have heard in years! I think with him as boss and Le Tissier as Chairman, the feel-good factor could be about to return!
We signed Keegan as a player in 1980, after he had just won European Footballer of the year for 2 years running (whilst playing for Hamburg) this is still regarded as one of the shock transfers of the modern era!
Could we see the return..... I for one have my fingers crossed!

I have my doubts. Firstly about Kevin wanting to come to Saints, then about whether he's a good league one manager.
If Pinnacle secure the deal and make a good chunk of funds available to him, then yes he would be a great manager. However, can you really see big Kev managing our current team sans several of the more decent players, with very limited means? I cannot see it.
However, if the Pinnacle deal goes through and we get Kev and some money, I'll be cheering with the best

But Keegan always says he loves the challenge. And he likes to shock, like when he signed for Saints when all the biggest clubs in Europe wanted to sign him.
It could also be an easier lifestyle for him, with far less pressure than one of the bigger jobs.
He also did very well in the lower leagues with Newcastle, Fulham and Man City (earning promotion with all of them!)
In his Biography, he also says his happiest days as a player were with Saints!
I am also sceptical though whether it will actually happen or not, we have had so many false dawns (Paul Allen, etc) so until it is confirmed, I will try and contain my excitement!

I hope it all goes through but Keegan has always splashed the cash and if there isn't any around he may not fancy it.
He had a big cheque book at Fulham, spent a fair bit at City and the same at Newcastle. There's no question of his track record of getting teams out of the lower leagues and Fulham and City have stayed up ever since .... I loved it when Keegan was our manager as we played the most attacking football I have seen when we won the First Division Championship and then finished 9th in the Prem ..
Might be more to this story than meets the eye
Afaik keegan still owns a property in the new forest(lymington way i believe)
If people think money is the answer to saints they are seriously mistaken imho,it is about management of the club and not financing failed business ventures by their old parent company (who were the ones who went in to recievership afaict)
We need money to pay off the debts and to be able to pay the players, so yes money is the answer as far as that goes.
Mis-management needs to be sorted too and then playing staff.
My point was that Kev always spends when he's managing a team and I can't imagine him coming to Saints without a half-decent purse to spend....
I think you're right. Without any cash the like of David McGoldrick will be off (may well leave anyway) making things even harder.
As someone with fairly recent memories of Division Three you need some proper journeymen battlers and kickers to get you out of there and an old campaigner who knows where the net is ...... all for very low cash!
Thanks, always appreciate comments like that, good to see fans being encouraging.
I agree we need to add some steel to the pitch which will nurture our young players through what is going to be a difficult season.
I live in hope this season, come on Saints
One of my best mates is a Southampton fan, lives in Totton.
We meet up regularly and use the fixture list to guide us. Over the years he has come a few times when United play Saints at OT, then it was us for a few years, then Sheffield United / Blackpool etc and now it will be Oldham or Stockport eek!!
With the 10pt penalty you will do very well to get in the play offs but take heart that Leeds did it with a 15 point deduction. A good start is vital and I think you need the fans to back you like they did near the end of the season.
Just heard on the radio that it's not true that Keegan is being considered as the new manager. Le Tiss has denied this and said there's no truth in it.

The debt for the ground is not going to be paid off any time soon afaict
Mis-management is the reason the club is in the present situation and needs to be sorted straight away.
My point was that money (which in reality is the majority of clubs putting themselves in to debt)does not ultimately bring success, look at newcastle.
Whether keegan goes to saints or not i dont know but i think it is more a point of him being in charge of football affairs than being given money to spend (which im sure the new owners would anyway)

Really? Which Radio station was that?
I thought it was all looking more and more likely!
I have heard from a contact at the club, that a press statement is being made at 2.30pm today. But my source is not sure what the statement will be, but he has an inkling that it may be to say that all is going to plan and the Pinnacle Group have been granted an extension until Monday to conclude the deal.
Another weekend of worry.......

It was on Talk Sport. Someone was talking to Alan Brazil and he said that it's been blown out of proportion.
He reckons that Keegan visited Le Tissiers house and the builders who were working next door took photos and then sold them to Sky etc. I wish I could remember who was explaining it to Alan Brazil this morning.
Edit:-
If you go onto talksport media clips there's one of Mark Dennis who was the person on the radio this morning.

Cheers JohnG!
I dont see why Mark Dennis thinks that just because builders took the photos, it means that Le Tissier and Keegan's meeting wasn't to discuss the managers job?
Fingers crossed from me anyway..... will hopefully have an update later today.
